Virgin River returns to screens with its fifth season this September and fans are already anticipating the upcoming cliffhangers and storylines.

The hotly anticipated new season of Virgin River will hit screens later this year and one of the show’s stars is teasing a possible friendship that could occur in the upcoming episodes.

Ahead of its release, Teryl Rothery, who plays Muriel on the romance drama, took questions from fans where she posited a connection with one the most beloved characters on the show.

When asked if there was one character or actor that she’d like to have more scenes with, Teryl revealed: “I think I’d like to have more of a relationship with Mel (Alexandra Breckenridge).

“I don’t get to spend a whole lot of time with the Mel character.”

She added: “I would want to have obviously more time spent with Jack (Martin Henderson) simply because he’s so easy on the eye, isn’t he?

“Did I say that out loud? Seriously, he’s so fun. I want you all to know what another great human being he is.

“He’s just lovely – really great heart, you know? And he feels things deeply and he’s just a joy.”

She continued: “Obviously it would be nice to see her step out and do more with the town, outside of just the sewing circle. Like maybe get to know the Lizzie (Sarah Dugdale) character more, cause she’s so fun.”

When asked who she would like to see Muriel talk to more, Teryl echoed her earlier answer: “I think Mel and Jack. I think that relationship, that’s like the forefront, obviously, of the show.”

Teryl also hoped to see Muriel find her own soulmate: “But maybe like to have Muriel have the kind of relationship that Mel and Jack have. You know, that it’s really like your soulmate.”

Muriel was originally seen as a bit of a villain when she first appeared on the Netflix show, based on the series of books by Robyn Carr.

She made her romantic interest in Doc Mullins (Tom Matheson) very clear, which certainly irked Hope Mcrea (Annette O’Toole), even though Hope and Doc had been separated for 20 years at this point.

But in the latest season viewers saw Muriel and Hope’s friendship blossom when Muriel supports Hope following her car accident and subsequent brain injury.

Fans will need to tune in to the upcoming episodes to see how everything plays out. And there are plenty more cliffhangers and exciting storylines to come, as Virgin River has also
