Virgin River finally saw Charmaine give birth to the twins in season five but fans were far from happy with the key scene
Virgin River fans had been long awaiting Charmaine to go into labour and many couldn’t help but share their dissatisfied reaction when the time came
In the very first series of the romantic Netflix drama, Charmaine (played by Lauren Hammersley) announced she was pregnant, making everyone believe that Jack Sheridan (Martin Henderson) was the father.
It wasn’t too long before it was revealed she was expecting twins but in an unexpected twist in series four, she confesses her unborn children are not really his.
She had been pregnant throughout the first five series of Virgin River with a mystery surrounding the real dad’s identity so many were excited to see Charmaine go into labour in the new episodes.
However, many subscribers who know about giving birth to twins were not happy with how the birth was portrayed.
Kicking off an angry Reddit thread, one viewer commented: “I work in the birth world (doula and LC) and the way birth is portrayed on this show makes me want to eat glass.
“I’ve been so disappointed by how literally every birth attended by Mel – supposedly a highly experienced and crunchyish midwife – is mom doing DIRECTED PUSHING ON HER BACK.

“This is lazy writing, directing, and acting. Someone on the show’s production team should know better.
“I was hoping they would have gotten their s**t together by season five for the birth of Charmaine’s twins, but nope – it was the most ridiculous, fake c**p ever.”
And it didn’t take very long for others to stand united with this subscriber in anger against this portrayal.
“Omg I was waiting for someone to post this!” a fan rejoiced.
“I have twins and when I saw that twin birth in that office I was like no freaking way.
“Mine was actually not dramatic at all, but it’s high risk so lots of precautions had to be taken regardless. I was like what tf is going on.”
A second agreed: “Yeah, I had twins three weeks ago and was laughing at this scene.
“My real-life birth was way more dramatic. There were no less than 12 doctors/nurses, etc in the room when I gave birth. On the show, they were like ‘oh, Charmaine, you might have pre-eclampsia’ but then she was cool.”
Another added: “Her whole labour and delivery made me roll my eyes. I’ve had eight (yes
