The Rookie fans fear Bailey’s future as ABC drama teases major ‘drinking problem’

The Rookie fans took to social media with concern after Bailey spent most of the recent episode recovering from binge drinking.

ABC’s procedural drama The Rookie’s fifth season finally returned to screens on Tuesday after a lengthy three-week hiatus with another crime-busting episode.

As the team of officers delved into a thrilling case, viewers were left distracted by Bailey Nune (played by Jenna Dewan) who was forced to take a personal day.

The Rookie kicked off with John Nolan (Nathan Fillion) waking up to the sound of his fiancée Bailey being sick.

She had gone out for drinks with an old friend, Libby and told Nolan they had the same plans for that evening.

However, as she was nursing a hangover Bailey took a personal day from work.

Her absence was noticed at work as John spoke to Nyla Harper (Mekia Cox) and joked Bailey was trying to re-live her college days.

As the episode continued, fans grew concerned about the firefighter as her boozy evening with Libby landed her in a jail cell.

Viewers took to social media with worry as they believed Bailey could be developing a “drinking problem”.

A bothered @mehekranii tweeted: “Also, @therookie we’re not actually making alcoholic Bailey a thing right?”

As @MinneSueta pleaded: “My baby Bailey @jennadewan pleaaaase no… Not her don’t ruin her she pleaaaase #TheRookie @therookie.” (sic)

A third viewer @EquipoChenford questioned: “Bailey an alcoholic?” (sic)

While @deylanxo_ warned: “Bailey is too old for this.”

@Sydvaughnfan2 added: “I think you have a drinking problem.”

During their evening, Bailey was taken aback when Libby decided they should meet her romantic interest.

However, things took a turn for the worse when she ended up in a scuffle with the “creep” and landed herself in a cell.

Although Nolan had his hands full at work, he quickly went to bail out his fiancee.

After they finally got home, Libby expressed concern about Bailey and shared that she could have a problem with alcohol misuse.

As Libby’s taxi arrived, Bailey suggested they should take a break from their annual reunion so she can get herself together.

But as they bid each other goodbye, Bailey headed to the kitchen and swigged a bottle of wine from the bottle.

Her potential drinking problem will undoubtedly cause problems for Bailey at work, as she needs to be in a completely sober mind on the fire rescue team.

As for her relationship with Nolan, fans are still eager to see their wedding take place after it was briefly cancelled for a rescue mission.
