EastEnders favourite Anna Knight (Molly Rainford) is to be spiked in next week’s episodes – with devastating consequences for boyfriend Bobby Beale (Clay Milner Russell) soon following.

The week kicks off with sister Gina (Francesca Henry) questioning whether the pair are right for one another.

With old flame Freddie Slater (Bobby Brazier) back on the scene, viewers of the BBC One soap will have undoubtedly been reminded of the love triangle between the three last year – but Anna insists Bobby is the perfect fella for her.

‘I think Anna is over always having to justify why she’s with Bobby’ Molly recently told us.

‘I think she’s proved time and time again that he’s a good guy who really cares for her, and would go above and beyond, so I think for her it’s frustrating that people don’t just accept that they’re together and they’re happy.

‘Personality wise he’s obviously very different to what Gina or even [mum] Cindy (Michelle Collins) would have wanted for her but I think it shows that sometimes you have to go outside of your comfort zone and she’s ended up with a really nice boy.’

Following the heart to heart with her sister, the girls head out to Peggy’s with Freddie and pal Felix Baker (Matthew Morrison), but it’s not long before disaster strikes…

The group notice a change in Anna’s behaviour, and realising how little alcohol she’s drank, it becomes apparent that she’s been spiked.

‘Anna starts to appear and feel really drunk all of a sudden, but she’s hardly drunk anything the whole night’ explained Molly.

‘She feels safe in the respect that she’s got everyone with her, but she’s confused as to why she’s gone from sober to drunk all of a sudden. Anna starts to become really confused by her surroundings which is obviously really scary.’

The next morning, after spending time in hospital, Anna arrives home and Bobby is notably absent after chasing his brother Peter (Thomas Law) and Cindy to find his dad Ian (Adam Woodyatt), she’s happy to have Freddie around instead.

When Bobby learns his girlfriend has been spiked, he’s horrified that he wasn’t there to help.

Trying to be supportive, he accidentally puts his foot in it and Anna darts off. Before long Freddie finds himself as the mediator in the situation.

Molly added: ‘I think the reason Bobby put his foot in it is, as like anyone does, he tries to make sense of the situation.’

‘I don’t think Bobby means to hurt her, but with all of the stress that’s going on, and with Anna also feeling unwell from the spiking, it was the wrong moment to start trying to piece the night together.

‘I think the reason she turns to Freddie as a bit of a comfort is because instead of trying to make sense of it, he just listens.’

‘Sometimes you just need someone to hear you and not question how you feel.’
