Martine McCutcheon shares emotional ADHD admission after health diagnosis

Former EastEnders star Martine McCutcheon shared with fans an emotional insight into her views on children suffering with ADHD in schools following a video by a psychologist

Martine McCutcheon has given fans an insight into her views on children in school who are dealing with ADHD, in an emotional social media post.

The star, who is best known for her role in EastEnders as Tiffany Mitchell from 1994 until 1998, posted the now-expired message, in response to a video she saw by a psychologist. Dr Mark Rackley posted a video speaking about the hyperactive behavioural disorder and Martine, 48, took the opportunity to reveal her views, after she revealed she was diagnosed with ADD, last year.

Dr Mark, reposted her message that read: “I personally relate to this. We know more than ever that we don’t all think the same way and so very many of us come at things from a different place. Just like nature and the most beautiful flowers around the world, we simply can’t all blossom in the same climate.”

She added: “I don’t pretend to have the answers but I know so many children are left feeling inadequate when they are so very bright. And a big chunk of that is due to not being able to work within a certain system.” And Dr Mark reposted her comment and wrote over it saying: “Thank you Martine for your beautiful words.”

Last November, the mum of one, addressed living Attention Deficit Disorder [ADD] on Instagram. The former monk turned lifestyle expert Jay Shetty, posted a message which had the TV actress and singer “shimmying her shoulders and giggling”. His post read: “There’s a proven link between playfulness and wellbeing. So try not to take life, or yourself, too seriously.”

Martine then shared her feelings and said: “So many of you ask me what helps me with my conditions. For any of you that find it hard to focus or have ADD like me, or ADHD or depression, peri meno or anxiety etc… these little but potent 10-minute meditations are b****y wonderful!” She added: “Highly recommend the app (no affiliation). You’re welcome!”

ADHD is a condition that causes those to struggle with concentration and have the tendency to act impulsively, according to the NHS website. Martine was also diagnosed with chronic fatigue syndrome [CFS], fibromyalgia and Lyme disease, which causes pain in her body and exhaustion. When she had a flare-up last year, Martine was so poorly, she had to receive medical treatment at the hospital, which made her unable to attend her husband Jack McManus’ birthday.

Luckily for the TV personality, she was able to recover and was seen dancing the night away in Majorca, while on holiday in between her flare-ups. Speaking to the Glasgow Times last year about medical research, she said: “They’re getting more and more
