In his Salem Inn room, Leo tries to come up with a Lady Whistleblower column when Bonnie shows up with the story of the century: the double wedding. She alludes to someone marrying for money, but stops, fearing she’s said too much. Leo pounces on the gossip, realizing she’s referring to Theresa. Bonnie persuades him not to write that story, worried about Justin. As Leo tries to find another angle, Bonnie teases that there might be a surprise guest. Leo’s intrigued that Xander even has a mother let alone that she has a drinking problem, and that Bonnie believes she sent the invitation without Sarah and Xander knowing. (If you’ll recall, Bonnie found the wedding invitation in the trash after Theresa threw it away.)
Sarah comes home to a shirtless Xander doing pushups in preparation for the wedding. Xander grouses about sharing their wedding with Alex and Theresa, but Sarah reminds him it’ll be nice to bring his family together. As long as Alex pays for half of it, Xander quips, or all of it since he inherited Victor’s money. He assures her he’s not jealous. All he wants is to make an honest living and to make his wife and daughter proud. They deeply kiss.
In his room at the mansion, Alex concludes some business over the phone when Justin comes by. Alex doesn’t want to fight today, but Justin isn’t there to warn him about Theresa. He wants to perform the wedding ceremony. Alex wonders if this is a trick.
Downstairs in the mansion, Brady talks Theresa out of trying to get Tate home for the wedding. She blames Holly for having to send Tate away in the first place. But at least they know he’s not in her clutches. When Brady suggests she and Holly might be a little bit alike, Theresa orders him to be nice on her wedding day. Even if it’s not her first wedding, it’s her first proper ceremony. Brady quips it won’t be as cool as their Vegas wedding — despite him being high as a kite. Theresa sheepishly admits to taking advantage of the situation, bringing them full circle to Theresa’s claims about Holly. Theresa grows serious as she recalls their unofficial wedding in his bedroom. For one shining moment, the stars aligned, and they were actually happy. “It’s a shame it didn’t last,” Brady wistfully says.
Sophia interrupts Tate and Holly’s make-out session at the Horton Cabin and threatens to call their parents. In fact, she almost told Tate’s mom he was hiding out there for the summer, but she didn’t want to ruin her wedding day… so she’ll tell her tomorrow instead.
Sarah and Xander lie naked under a blanket on the couch. Despite doing things out of order on their wedding day, Sarah is sure their bad luck is over. It’ll be clear skies from now on.
In his room, Alex accuses Justin of planning a repeat of Maggie and Konstantin’s wedding. Offended, Justin assures Alex he has no ulterior motives. He just wants to be part of his special day, but not if it doesn’t work for him. Alex softens. He apologizes for accusing him, but he does have to ask Theresa first. He sincerely thanks Justin, who leaves to prepare.
Downstairs, Theresa blames herself for her and Brady never working. She hopes things are different with Alex. Brady is rooting for them. Despite everything, he just wants her to be happy. She wants the same for him. At least one of them found true love, he says, adding that she deserves it. “I have to confess something to you,” Theresa says. Alex saunters in before she can say more. After Brady leaves, Alex asks Theresa about Justin officiating their wedding. She half-heartedly says it’s fine. Alex can’t wait to spend the rest of his life with her. She says she feels the same way, but looks at Brady’s photo on the mantle as they hug.
In the cabin, Holly begs Sophia not to tell their parents, but Sophia’s all too happy to rat them out after they deceived her about prom. Holly will do anything. Smirking, Sophia agrees to keep quiet if Holly takes the job at the Bistro that her parents made her get — and give her all the money. After Sophia leaves, Tate offers to go to lacrosse camp instead of Holly having to work. Holly would rather he stay so they can enjoy whatever time they have together.
As Sarah looks over the wedding guest list at home, Xander notes his mother never responded. She apologizes for reopening old wounds, but Xander says it was worth a shot. It’s probably for the best, though. He looks off pensively as they hug. Theresa comes over with her wedding gown. Xander snarks at her for encroaching on their day before heading off to get ready himself.

In the Kiriakis living room, Alex tells Justin they’d love to have him officiate. Looking at Victor’s portrait, he says it’s what his father would want. Justin doesn’t give a damn what Victor would have wanted. Alex didn’t realize Justin was still so worked up about it. Incensed, Justin wonders how he could not be. Victor robbed him of his son. “Justin,” Alex says, “I was never your son to begin with.” When he defends Victor, an infuriated Justin asks why. “Because he was my father,” Alex forcefully declares. “So was I damn it,” Justin shouts back.
Brady comes home to the townhouse, trying to convince himself that he and Theresa were never good together. He thinks back to having sex with her. “How are you going to get through this wedding?” he asks himself. He rifles through the liquor cabinet and pulls out a bottle of vodka.
Bonnie comes to Sarah’s apartment to help the brides get ready. She also has something to tell Sarah. Bonnie knows she threw Xander’s mother’s invitation in the trash. Sarah corrects her as Theresa looks panicked.
Next, on Days of Our Lives, Xander gives Jack a gift, and things take a turn with Justin and Alex.
