Beverly Callard, who played Liz McDonald on Coronation Street for 31 years, has revealed she’d be thrilled to play an iconic EastEnders character’s long-lost sister.

ITV star Beverly Callard has revealed she would sign up to Eastenders. The 67-year-old found fame after being catapulted into the spotlight for playing Liz McDonald for 31 years on Coronation Street.

However, back in 2020, she left the cobbles for good after playing the iconic barmaid for over three decades. Taxing to X, formerly known as Twitter, the actress uploaded a series of new headshot snaps.

Beverly looked stunning as she posed at the camera with her corkscrew hairdo. However, fans were quick to spot the resemblance of the iconic Eastenders character Angie Watts – who also had curly, long locks.

One user joked: “These are to submit to the BBC so they can introduce you in EastEnders as Angie Watts long lost sister, right?” Beverly responded: “Yes!! I’d do it”.

Fans were delighted with the admission and commented: “That’d be brilliant.” A second wrote: “It would be wonderful.” While a third pleaded with producers and said: “Omg you’d be fab come on Enders do it! Sign her up.”

Beverly’s former co-star Kym Marsh, who played her onscreen daughter-in-law Michelle Connor, hit the headlines as she recently spoke out and supported Graziano Di Prima following his Strictly Come Dancing sacking.

Graziano, 30, was fired by BBC bosses after it emerged that he kicked his former dance partner, Zara McDermott, last year.

The dancer has apologised for his actions and told the Daily Mail: “I didn’t deliberately hurt anyone…I’m not a monster. I’m not an abusive man.”
