Coronation Street’s Summer Spellman was left heartbroken on Monday’s episode as long-distance boyfriend Felix dumped her over phone

Coronation Street saw one fan favourite dumped on Monday night.

Soap fans will recall that earlier this year, Summer Spellman departed the cobbles after being encouraged by Paul Foreman to see the world and she signed up for a special new course in Boston. She had initially said she didn’t want to go because of Paul’s motor neurone disease diagnosis but he told her she shouldn’t put her life on hold and she headed off in a taxi back in March.

Back in June, Summer returned from America with a new look and a new man as she dropped a bombshell on her family, revealing she’s got a new boyfriend called Felix and he was waiting to meet them in the Rovers. However, Summer’s family weren’t a fan of Felix and after his brief introduction on the cobbles he returned back to America last month.

On Monday night’s episode, Summer was left both heartbroken and gutted to learn Felix had dumped her over the phone, blaming the long-distance. Summer was insulted he dumped her over phone and wondered why he didn’t do it face-to-face. Meanwhile, Summer’s family were delighted to see Felix out the picture admitting they never liked him in the first place.

Taking to Twitter, now X, one person said: “Summer deserves better than Felix he was boring #Corrie”, a different account wrote: “Felix deserves to pay for breaking her heart #Corrie” while a different account added: “Felix is an idiot letting Summer go #Corrie!”

Summer has been on the soap for seven years, when she arrived as the daughter of Drew Spellman, an old friend of Billy. When Drew died, Summer moved in with Billy and has lived there ever since, and now has two more dads in Paul and Todd. The character was initially played by Matilda Freeman between 2017 and 2020, with Harriet Bibby having taken over the role for the last four years.

With Summer, played by Harriet, now back, one character who will sadly make a permanent exit from the ITV soap is Paul star Peter Ash, with it believed that Paul could die this year in sad scenes after getting his MND diagnosis following an accident last year.
