Former EastEnders star Joe Swash headlines new Channel 4 cookery series

Joe Swash has been on our TV screens for over two decades now and the former I’m A Celebrity winner is about to star in a new cookery show with a best-selling author

Joe Swash, a familiar face on TV for over 20 years, is set to headline an entirely new show that’s a departure from his usual gigs.

After impressing as a finalist on Celebrity Masterchef in 2021, Joe has been scooped up by Channel 4 for a fresh cooking series.

The king of the jungle from I’m A Celebrity is joining forces with best-selling author and The Batch Lady, Suzanne Mulholland.

They’re teaming up for Buy It, Batch It, Cook It, a six-part series in collaboration with Lidl, airing on the commercial broadcaster.

Joe and Suzanne will be helping families looking for tips on budgeting and better kitchen organisation, including meal planning, reports OK!. Their goal is to slash meal prep time to just one hour by teaching families the art of batch cooking, freezing, and storing meals in bulk.

Each participating family will receive a tailored menu based on their preferred tastes, aiming to minimise their time spent cooking daily.

Joe shared his excitement about the upcoming programme, saying: “The last few years have seen every one of us juggling so many stresses, not least the rising cost of our food.”

He continued, “Suzanne and I are hoping to give households the tools to not just save the pennies and the pounds, but also have more time to spend on being together as a family.”

Suzanne said: “It’s a dream come true to be fronting a cookery TV series on Channel 4.”

“When I started The Batch Lady, I never imagined that it would inspire such a following let alone lead to my face on bestselling books and primetime TV. I’m really excited to work with Joe to change the lives of families around the UK one batch at a time.”

Joe reached the Celebrity Masterchef final alongside Megan McKenna, but they were both beaten by Kadeena Cox who took home the trophy.

Following his impressive culinary skills display, the ex-EastEnders star published a cookbook titled ‘Joe’s Kitchen’, packed with a variety of recipes and mouth-watering dishes.
