EastEnders star quits BBC soap and upcoming scenes will be his last

EastEnders star, Navin Chowdry, who plays evil Nish Panesar, has reportedly quit the BBC soap ahead of an ‘impactful and dramatic exit’

A huge EastEnders star has quit the soap in news which will shock fans.

Navin Chowdry, who plays evil Nish Panesar, will be filming his last scenes in Albert Square, with a show source revealing it’s not known if the villain will be killed off.

Lifting the lid on the character’s “impactful and dramatic” exit, they said: “It’s not known if Nish will be killed off, even though his health is suffering, but expect the exit to be very impactful and dramatic.”

The actor has been at the centre of the some of the soap’s juiciest storylines over the last two years, culminating in Nish’s terminal illness.

Speaking about his impact on the soap, the source continued in The Sun: “Navin has made quite the impact on the show in the two years he has been a part of it, especially as a key part of the huge Christmas storyline with The Six. He’ll be missed by cast, crew and viewers alike.” When contacted by the Mirror about the exit reports, the BBC declined to comment.

Details of Navin’s departure are being kept under wraps, but his character is currently dying of a heart condition and needs a transplant.

However, while he may be dying, Nish doesn’t intend to make last-minute amends with his close circle. The EastEnders villain has a limited time left to live after he contracted a virus which led him to be diagnosed with viral myocarditis and he urgently needs a heart transplant. But in scenes due to air next week on BBC One, Nish will spend some of his remaining moments doing what he does best – plot against his own family.

After finding out that his son Vinny (Shiv Jalota) is in cahoots with his former wife Suki (Balvinder Sopal) as they try to take over the family empire, Nish decides to hatch a plan to teach Vinny a brutal lesson and there could be a prison twist ahead.

Soap bosses have yet to confirm whether Nish will be killed off. However, during a chat with Suki’s friend Ayesha, in scenes aired back in August, the character was heard claiming he wouldn’t be around much longer, teasing when he might leave the show. No date was specified and neither was the amount of time, but what he did say was that he wasn’t likely to be alive at Christmas.

Navin spoke to the Mirror recently about claims Nish may be lying about his illness. The actor said: “I think it’s exciting. I think nobody ever expected with a character like this –
