EastEnders legend Barry performs solo as England make it to Euros final after Aitch duet

EastEnders actor Shaun Williamson, known for his role as Barry Evans, joined rapper Aitch on stage to perform in June, with him taking to the stage solo last night when England made it to the final

EastEnders legend Shaun Williamson, who played Barry Evans in the hit soap opera, joined rapper Aitch on stage to perform a medley ahead of England’s triumphant semi-final win last month, with Shaun making a solo appearance last night.

Shaun, 58, previously joined British rapper Aitch, 24, at BOXPARK in Wembley, with this happening in June. And last night, Shaun was in BOXPARK in Croydon ahead of England’s Euro semi-final game. Gareth Southgate’s England made it through to the Euro 2024 final after beating the Netherlands 2-1 on Wednesday, but before this, Shaun thrilled fans with his upbeat display while on stage.

Performing solo in Croydon, Shaun could be seen and heard singing YMCA, as well as several other crowdpleasers. One fan shared a snippet from the performance, writing: “Did your England game have Barry from EastEnders though?”

When Shaun took to the stage earlier this year with Aitch, he posted it all over his social media. Reacting to the videos at the time, one person said: “Barry from EastEnders and Aitch… my musical journey is now complete. I can die a happy man.”

“Barry the legend,” added a second. A third then penned: “So much better than the match.” While a fourth added: “Go on Baz lad.” And a fifth said: “This is brilliant Shaun.”

This comes as calls have begun for an extra bank holiday if England wins the Euro 2024 final this weekend. The call by the Liberal Democrats comes ahead of Sunday’s final when England will play Spain.

England vs Spain is scheduled to kick off at 8pm BST on Sunday July 14, 2024, after a triumphant win for Southgate and his team on Wednesday night.

And it seems this could be likely after Keir Starmer, the new prime minister shared his stance on a day off last year ahead of the Lionesses’ World Cup final showdown with Spain in Australia. Taking to Twitter, he wrote: “It’s almost 60 years since England won the World Cup. I’m never complacent about anything…but there should be a celebratory bank holiday if the Lionesses bring it home.”

And he also told The Mirror the same in an exclusive interview, declaring: “If they win it will be a truly historic achievement, one that should be marked with a proper day of celebration.”

He has also dropped a similar hint during a during a meeting with US President Joe Biden. The latter told reporters the Three Lions’ success was “all because of the Prime Minister”.

The PM then said: “Not lost a game under a labour government.” A reporter asked: “Is football coming home, Prime Minister?” to which he quickly retorted: “It looks like it.”
