EastEnders icon Lacey Turner’s three-word response to sister landing role on rival soap

Lacey Turner’s sister has spilled the beans on how the EastEnders icon felt when she bagged a role in a competing soap.

The talented Lacey became a household name as Stacey Slater in BBC’s EastEnders, first gracing our screens back in 2004.

She quickly became one of Albert Square’s most cherished characters.

Throughout her time on the show, Lacey’s character Stacey has been at the centre of some explosive plots, tackling everything from her struggles with bipolar disorder to getting embroiled in murder mysteries.

It seems the acting skills are a family trait, as Lacey’s younger sister also stepped into the spotlight and dived into the soap opera world. Daisy Turner snagged her own soap role around the same time Lacey took a break from EastEnders in 2010.

Daisy made waves in Hollyoaks on Channel 4 in 2011 at the age of 20, portraying the glamorous Rebecca Massey, who stirred up trouble under the alias Jenny Houston.

Starting out in the shadow of her successful older sister wasn’t easy, Daisy confessed to Liverpool Echo, saying: “All three of us do it.”

“Lacey and I acted as kids. Our mum, Bev, let us do everything – singing, dancing and acting,” she added. And it turns out Lacey had a sweet three word response to sister Daisy landing the Hollyoaks job, telling her “she is there” for her.

Recounting the moment she got the exciting news, Daisy said: “I was at home with my mum and sisters when I got the call to say I’d got the part. Lacey said if I need her, she is there.”

She discussed the daunting comparison, saying: “I suppose there is a bit of pressure because she is very good at what she does. She has done it for years and I am just starting out.”

Daisy revealed to the outlet that she intentionally didn’t inform Hollyoaks bosses about her link to Lacey during auditions. In her own words: “It would be embarrassing to walk into an audition and say that. Every time I went to an audition, I never mentioned Lacey, because that would make me sound stupid.”

Unfortunately, Daisy’s stint on Hollyoaks didn’t last long. Her character Jenny met a tragic end only months after landing in town – strangled by villain Silas in connection to an extended storyline.

Since then, 33 year old Daisy’s on-screen presence has been scarce. She did, however, feature in a short film titled You Got The Time? back in 2010.
