EastEnders fans left furious as axed character returns for a fourth time

EastEnders fans have been left questioning the soap after character Karen Taylor made yet another return to the square, after “leaving for good”.

At the end of 2023, Karen left the BBC soap with partner Mitch Baker and their family. However, daughter Bernie opted to stay behind.

Despite this, Karen has since returned multiple times, recently visiting Dean in prison, who is behind bars for the murder of Keanu Taylor.

However, as viewers know, it was actual Linda who served the lethal blow to Keanu’s head on Christmas Day. Karen now has her suspicions on Linda as Dean told her she lied to the police, although other members of the Square aren’t convinced.

When asked how she was allowed into the prison, Karen said she pretended to be his mum, although viewers had questions about the storyline, claiming the character would need ID to be let inside.

Other viewers were questioning why the character had returned so many times since “leaving the show”.

“What’s the point in axing Karen if you’re gonna bring her back every few weeks for an episode or two?” one questioned. Another joked: “Karen returning and exiting #eastenders more times than Lorraine Kelly hosts her breakfast show.”

It’s the fourth time the character has returned since leaving. Previously returning when his body was discovered, for his final goodbye, and after the initial disappearance.

However, Lorraine Stanley, who plays Karen Taylor has now confirmed her exit from the soap for good. Taking to her Instagram after her scenes on June 17th aired, she penned alongside a video of her time in Albert Square: “Well that’s a wrap!! I’ve had the best 7 years!! Thankyou @bbceastenders for having me. @daranlittle for creating the Taylor’s, Sean O’Connor for giving me the opportunity with the @bbc @crampsielinge for casting me,I really can’t thank you enough.
