EastEnders couple arrested for murder as vital evidence revealed in game-changing twist

SPOILERS: EastEnders is set to take a dramatic turn next week when a beloved soap couple gets arrested for a shock murder

EastEnders has confirmed that Sonia Fowler and Reiss Colwell will get arrested for murder.

Accountant Reiss (Johnny Freeman) has been overwhelmed in recent months with money troubles after falling behind on wife Debbie’s care home bills. As fans will recall Debbie was in a coma after suffering a stroke in the bath.

And with partner Sonia Fowler (Natalie Cassidy) pregnant, Reiss felt the pressure even more so. However, he resorted to horrifying measures when he murdered Debbie.

In shocking scenes, Reiss smothered his wife with a pillow – not knowing that Sonia visited Debbie before him, and helped adjust her in bed.

What’s more, Reiss has also fleeced Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean) and Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) out of thousands of pounds recently. He conjured up a lie about a fake investment scheme for their business – something Sharon believed.

However, Phil has since demanded his money – and EastEnders spoilers for next week reveal things are set to take a dramatic turn.

At the start of the week, Reiss is a nervous wreck as he faces Phil’s deadline for his money – and tries to convince Sonia to go for a day out to escape, but she refuses.

Sonia is touched when Kathy offers to throw her an engagement party. Later, Phil turns up on the doorstep raging, and Reiss is forced to tell Sonia that he is supposed to pay him back today but can’t.

Teddy and Sharon intervene to cool things down, and Sonia is able to buy them time by pleading with Sharon. However, Teddy decides to take on the debt from Phil.

Later on, Sonia is worried about her eight-week viability scan and rattled when Sharon reveals that Teddy took on the debt, as Reiss hasn’t told her. At the scan, Sonia confronts Reiss and tells him it’s madness to make a deal with someone they barely know.

When they arrive back on the Square, Martin privately warns Reiss that the police have been round asking questions about him and Debbie.

Back at home, Reiss has a panic attack and Sonia tries to calm him down. They head to The Vic, where they are enjoying their engagement party until the police arrive and arrest both Sonia and Reiss for Debbie’s murder.

The pair are soon questioned by the detectives, who have physical evidence that Debbie was murdered.
