EastEnders’ Ian Beale is hiding something from his family, with spoilers confirming son Peter Beale will wonder what is wrong with the BBC soap legend

EastEnders is lining up a new twist for Ian Beale, as it appears he’s keeping a secret on the BBC soap.

The Walford legend sparks serious concern next week, as it’s revealed he’s been lying to his family. His son Peter Beale is determined to get to the bottom of the mystery, as he realises Ian is hiding his true whereabouts.

Not only that but he’s preoccupied with something, snapping at people and refusing to reveal what is bothering him. So what is wrong with Ian, and could there be concerning scenes on the way?

It all kicks off when Anna Knight tries to plan partner Bobby Beale’s 21st birthday party and speaks to Ian. He snaps at her though, as he anxiously checks his phone repeatedly.

Then he starts to act weirdly, with Peter picking up on this. Peter tries to bring up Bobby’s birthday, and Ian acts suspiciously regarding the plans before lying to him about where he is going to be the following day.

Peter knows he isn’t telling him the truth and confides in mum Cindy Beale, leading to them both trying to get to the bottom of what is going on. Ian soon tells them he’s thinking of running for the council again, suggesting this is what he’s been up to.

But Peter isn’t convinced, and as Ian heads off to his council meeting he takes action. Ian claims he’s attending a leadership course in Manchester as part of his bid for the council, but he upsets Cindy with his revelation that she is not allowed to go with him.

This only leaves Peter more confused though, so he goes to speak with the council himself to find out if his dad is really there. But after checking in with them, he finds out Ian is lying to him and Cindy and he is not on a course after all.

So what is Ian hiding, and why is he keeping it from them? Peter demands to know what’s really going on with Ian, but will he get to the bottom of it or be left in the dark once more?
