EastEnders boss teases dramatic Christmas with Mitchells at the heart of the drama

EastEnders boss Chris Clenshaw has revealed the team are already working on ideas for Christmas and have hinted the Mitchells will take centre during the next few months

Christmas is nearly upon us – at least in EastEnders’ world.

Executive producer Chris Clenshaw has revealed exclusively to The Mirror about what fans can expect from the next few months on the BBC soap in the lead up to Christ

mas, and hinted the Mitchells could be front of centre of the drama.

Speaking exclusively to The Mirror about what’s to come, he said: “Christmas is well underway. In the story office there is a board and it all connects. I compare it to a tapestry board, everything has to fit together. We’ve got the new Mitchells coming in that will stir some trouble up. And as we head through into the autumn and the end of the year, we’ve got quite a few treats coming up.”

Could this be a hint that the new Mitchells might play a big part at Christmas? Will Phil and Billy welcome Teddy and his family with open arms, or is there trouble ahead in true Mitchell style?

Stevie’s son Teddy Mitchell has made his arrival in the Square, leaving Billy’s world turned upside down. The whole Mitchell family are left reeling when they find out there is a whole secret family they didn’t know about!

At the time, bosses teased that tensions will run high as Stevie tells Billy that Teddy is his half-brother, with Roland Manookian playing the role of Teddy alongside Elijah Holloway as Harry and Lewis Bridgeman as Barney.

Executive Producer Chris Clenshaw teased at the time: “I’m delighted to welcome Roland, Elijah and Lewis to EastEnders as we bring a new branch of the iconic Mitchell family to the Square. The arrival of Teddy, Harry and Barney will be a seismic shock for Billy and an unwelcome surprise for Phil. With their arrival sparking more questions than answers, it’s not long before the Mitchells find themselves at war as Teddy and his sons are thrust into the heart of the drama.”

Roland Manookian, who plays Teddy, added: “I’ve been watching EastEnders my whole life, so being part of it is amazing! Coming in as a Mitchell means you’ve got big shoes to fill, but it’s a challenge that I’m happy to accept. It’s a privilege to have the chance to work with the likes of Perry Fenwick, Steve McFadden, and the legendary Alan Ford – what amazing company to keep. Teddy is an enigmatic sort of fella with old-school principles, but he’s tuned into modernity, too. It’s a lovely part to get my teeth into.”

Could the Mitchells be front and centre of the drama in Walford this Christmas?
