After riding high for months, EJ’s a bit adrift right now on Days of Our Lives. Nicole’s left him, Kristen’s taken the family company for herself and, while EJ’s still got the DA position, outside of a murder or two, crime seems to be down in Salem. (Though that may change if and when Fiona and Connie are ever hauled in for their crimes.)
In fact, as far as we can tell, we won’t even be seeing EJ until next week when he and Abigail get reacquainted with each other! The two of them commiserating makes a certain amount of sense, since he, too, came back from the dead with a new face just a few short years back.
Granted, we still aren’t sure we buy that the Mystery Woman is Abigail. And that’s not exactly giving EJ a ton to do.
That, though, is bound to change eventually. In fact, Dan Feuerriegel just teased a major new development for his character over on his Instagram stories! He posted a multiple choice poll earlier in the week, asking what folks thought he was filming. And the voting results were actually pretty predictable.
“EJ gets possessed” got 11 percent, “Discover I have an evil twin” got 14 percent, and “Make sweet, sweet love,” received 23 percent. But the clear winner was “Get slapped for being a menace,” with 52 percent of the votes. And of course it was! After all, Marlena just did that the other week. And we’re got no doubt that by the time we catch up to what Feuerriegel’s filming now, EJ will have plenty more misdeeds racked up to earn the ire of our favorite Salemites.
“But,” he wrote in the next slide, “you’re all wrong. EJ DiMera, feeling old and irrelevant, suddenly becomes obsessed with becoming a professional snail trainer!”
Oh. Right, then. Well, new writers have taken over on the show, so why not an entirely new direction for EJ?
Category 1 Hurricane Ernesto continues North, expected to approach Bermuda by Saturday
“I was shooting scenes where I am training my snail, ‘Shelly Belly,’ for the prestigious Salem snail racing championships,” he continued. “I am the snail whisperer.”
