‘Days Of Our Lives’ Head Writer Ron Carlivati Departing Peacock Soap After Seven Years

The head writer for the last seven years has left the Peacock sudser and is being replaced by Paula Cwikly and Jeanne Marie Ford. The changes are effective immediately.

Episodes written by Carlivati will air through April of 2025 due to the show’s unique tape-to-air schedule.

Cwikly has a long tenure in daytime television, having written for The Young and The Restless, As The World Turns and Sunset Beach. She was with Days of our Lives as both an associate and head writer in the early 2000s.

Ford is currently on the writing team as a breakdown writer and also has a long history with Days, having started her career as a writer’s assistant in 1992. Ford also wrote for As The World Turns and One Life To Live.

“We look forward to approaching our 60th Anniversary next year with Paula and Jeanne Marie at the helm and fresh, exciting stories that we know the fans will embrace,” said Executive Producer Ken Corday.

“We wish Ron nothing but the best and thank him for his dedication and the respect he has shown to me, the cast, and the show’s legacy.”

Carlivati served as head writer during a particular challenging time on the soap. Last July, Deadline revealed details from a nine-week investigation into misconduct allegations against longtime Days of Our Lives director/co-executive producer Albert Alarr.

About 30-40 people — primarily women — were interviewed in the investigation, which probed accusations of inappropriate comments and physical contact, including groping and forceful kissing, and revealed a toxic environment on the show that allegedly had been fostered by Alarr for years.

The soap went on an unplanned hiatus; Alarr eventually departed last August.

Earlier this year, former star Arianne Zucker slapped Corday Prods. and Alarr with a lawsuit alleging sexual harassment. She claims she was fired from the show for speaking
