Coronation Street’s Liam McCheyne says ‘watch this space’ as Mason return leaves Dylan ‘in twist’

The actor teased Dylan Wilson’s future on the cobbles amid the return of Mason Radcliffe

Coronation Street star Liam McCheyne has told fans to ‘watch this space’ as he teased Dylan Wilson’s future on the cobbles amid the return of Mason Radcliffe.

Viewers of the ITV soap were left devastated earlier this year as they watched Liam Connor become the victim of cruel Weatherfield High bully Mason and his group of mates – including Liam’s friend Dylan.

It was during one of his horrific bullying sessions that Mason pulled a knife on the terrified teen. Later, Mason was sent to the Young Offenders facility for being in possession of a knife – and not for the first time

But three months on and Mason will next week be back on the scene. Explaining Dylan’s reaction, Liam told the Manchester Evening News at the RadioTimes.com Soap Awards in Manchester: “Mason gets released from Young Offenders. Obviously, Dylan is on high alert. He’s very worried for himself, he’s very worried for his dad.

“He’s in a twist [about it], but whether Mason’s going to be a bad lad or he’s going to try and turn it around, who knows? It’s going to be very exciting when he gets out.”

As for what’s to come going forward, Liam teased: “All I can say is we really want to focus on the relationship between Dylan and Sean [Tully – played by Antony Cotton]. Where Mason’s going to tie in with that, there’s exciting things to come. Watch this space.”

The teen is also really proud of the storyline and what they have already achieved as well as what they can achieve as the storyline returns to the forefront of the long-running show.

He told us: “The first word that comes to mind is a privilege, more than anything. I’ve got a very big passion within myself to do something that’s related to young people’s mental health, which we saw with the character of Liam.

“Working with Luca [Toolan, who plays Mason] and Charlie [Wrenshall, who plays Liam] has been absolutely fantastic, and of course Antony as well – we’re still very close. It’s a privilege.”
