Coronation Street star Cait Fitton has teased whether her character Lauren Bolton will be staying on the ITV soap, after hints of another exit in the latest episode

Coronation Street’s Lauren Bolton’s soap future has been teased, after the latest episode hinted she would be leaving the ITV soap once more.

Actress Cait Fitton spoke exclusively to The Mirror about what’s ahead for Lauren, and whether she will be sticking around. Friday’s episode of the show saw Lauren telling Joel Deering she needed to get away from Weatherfield as soon as possible.

As she asked Joel about flights and arrangements to leave, she then threatened to expose him if he didn’t stick to his end of the deal. Lauren had just told DS Swain, on Joel’s orders, that Nathan Curtis was the one who attacked her back in February.

Lauren returned from the dead months on from the brutal attack in a recent episode, after months of fears she had been murdered. Joel wasn’t identified as the person grooming Lauren or the one who really attacked her until May, before her true fate was revealed in a recent episode.

She told Swain that Nathan was her attacker and she did not want to press charges. She then visited Roy Cropper, who had wrongly been accused of attacking her, and said she was sorry for not returning sooner.

After her threat to Joel about an email containing incriminating information, she told him she needed to leave – hinting Lauren would be leaving the show. Speaking to us recently, Lauren actress Cait teased whether Lauren could end up staying on the show despite the recent scenes.

She promised there was “lots of things coming up”, adding: “It’s gonna be very juicy going forward that’s all I can say.” She went on: “There’s so many more twists and turns to come.”

She also teased how Lauren would be in the fallout, hinting there was plenty of screen time ahead for the character. She said: “Trauma changes everyone no matter what sort of trauma it is. Lauren is not the same girl who left. She is a completely different person and people are gonna see a clear change with her coming back.”

Meanwhile, Dee-Dee Bailey actress Channique Sterling-Brown teased a “catalyst of events” as Joel’s lies finally unravel. Teasing what was ahead for Joel and Dee-Dee following the huge Lauren twists, actress Channique told us the truth would come out, and that Dee-Dee would see Joel’s “true colours”.
