Coronation Street’s Colson Smith, 25, undergoes a hair transplant as he candidly admits he felt ‘anxious and very self-conscious’ due to baldness

Coronation Street star Colson Smith has been supported by his co-stars and followers as he revealed he made the decision to undergo a procedure to change his appearance.

The actor confirmed he’d had a hair transplant earlier this week in a post shared on social media on Wednesday (July 17). He posted a smiling picture of himself in which he could seen sporting a different hairstyle than normal, with the front of his head shaved and some of his red locks remaining at the back.

Colson, who is known for playing PC Craig Tinker in the ITV soap, also gave a thumbs up for the camera as he held up a mug which featured a Mr Men inspired character but the writing said: “Mr Hair Transplant.”

Opening up alongside the post, the soap star wrote: “Slightly different to my usual hairstyle… On Monday I had a hair transplant. A transplant has been on my agenda since I first noticed my hair loss at the age 22!

“Losing my hair at such a young age has been a tough thing for me to come to terms with, I instantly feel SOOO much better and more confident that I’ve taken a step to getting back my luscious strawberry blonde locks.”

The 25-year-old continued: “When I first met @bessamfarjo in 2023 he helped me understand my hair loss and the future of my hair, I feel so lucky to now be on my hair journey with such a talented and friendly team based here in Manchester. @farjohairinstitute.”

Colson then finished off his post by writing: “No more comb overs and baseball caps. Here’s to a future of having a cracking head of hair!” His co-star Tina O’Brien was quick to respond, writing: “Go on Colson! Good to see you so happy,” while former on-screen partner and bestie Ellie Leach replied: “Yay,” with a number of heart emojis.

Colson’s fans and followers were also quick to share their messages. @tonyelflain said: Well done. Really pleased for you!” @lizthewire commented: “So happy for you well done.” @luscious_lakeram wrote: “Well done you. I admire people so much who feel comfortable to be able to talk about things like this. I know you will make a difference.”

@autumnalwalksara replied: “Looks great. Good for you.” @connect3pt posted: “Amazing can’t wait to see the results.” @jacqui_tinkerbell_12 shared: “Well done to you for having the courage to firstly get the hair transplant and secondly for sharing your news with us.”
