Coronation Street spoilers as attack leads to hospital dash, a new recruit and shock return

A newcomer also tries their luck in the ITV soap next week

There are worrying scenes to come in next week’s Coronation Street as an attack leads to a hospital dash for one of the street’s most-loved residents.

As he struggles to return to his normal life following his prison hell, Roy Cropper is seen heading out of the cafe to take some homemade soup to Shona Platt he is confronted by a gang of yobs calling him names and he stumbles to the floor. Carla Connor rushes to his aid but it is clear he is in pain.

Later, when Shona admits she was never ill, and it was a ploy to entice him back into the cafe, Roy sends her and Evelyn Plummer packing.

Moments later outside, Shona is telling Nina Lucas what happened when an ambulance rounds the corner and they rush to the cafe where Roy being given CPR.

In the hospital, a visitor appears at Roy’s bedside. As he drifts in and out of consciousness, his visitor stays at his bedside before disappearing. When Roy tells Nina about his surprise visitor, she wonders if he is hallucinating. Who does he think he has seen?

Elsewhere, Leanne Battersby and she tells Nick Tilsley she is going to spend the day looking after Toyah Battersby but when Rowan calls asking her to attend the taster session for new recruits, Toysh offers to go with her.

As they arrive at the Chariot Square Hotel for the new recruits session, Leanne is delighted to see Amy Barlow amongst the attendees, but will she fall for Rowan’s charm like Leanne?

Meanwhile, Maria is stunned to get a letter saying Mason is due to be released from prison. She heads to the police station to ask some questions, unaware that her husband Gary is there with Sarah.

He is providing his bank statements in a bid to put her in the clear over where she suddenly got an injection of £10,000. As Gary comes out of the interview room, Maria demands to know what is going on. Will Gary come clean?

Also, PC Craig Tinker confides in Beth Sutherland that he’s worried he’s made an enemy of Kit and tells her about the shoplifting incident with Gemma Winter-Brown while over in the factory, Betsy Swain suggests to Carla Connor she might like to employ her full time. But Carla gives her short shrift and Betsy’s stung.
