Coronation Street regular’s exit ‘sealed’ after 14 years following surprise confession

The mystery surrounding the fire at Stefan Brent’s offices was uncovered on Wednesday after a Corrie character confessed to the crime in a “revenge attack”

Coronation Street has aired a surprise twist for Jack Webster after he admitted to starting the fire at Stefan Brent’s office building.

As fans of the ITV soap will know, Kevin Webster (Michael Le Vell) and his wife Abi Webster (Sally Carman) have been caught up in a feud with Stefan (Paul Opacic) for years.

Stefan’s son, Corey Brent (Maximus Evans), murdered Abi’s son Seb Franklin (Harry Visinoni) in 2021 as part of a hard-hitting hate-crime storyline. In a cruel plot, Stefan recently created deepfake videos of Abi but the police couldn’t help with the situation.

Abi is convinced Stefan made the deepfakes in revenge for her boycotting a documentary, which painted Corey as a hero amongst his prison football team, as Stefan’s production company were responsible for the film.

Kevin recently broke in Stefan’s officers to steal eveidence that he was behind the deepfakes and stole a burner phone. Last week, Kevin’s teenage son Jack Webster (Kyran Bowes) was dragged into the deepface ordeal as his school peers teased him about the footage.

On Monday (July 29), Stefan managed to steal back the burner phone by tricking Kevin into being out of the house and convincing Jack to let him in.

Later, PC Craig Tinker (Colson Smith) was forced to arrest Kevin on suspicion of burglary of Stefan’s property. Arriving home, Kevin told his family that he had no choice but to hold his hands up to the charge and has a plea hearing next week.

The episode ended with Abi, who had gone out, returning home to find Kevin watching an online news report of a fire at Stefan’s office building and she bitterly claimed he had it coming. During Wednesday’s trip to Weatherfield (July 31), Kevin expressed his suspicions that Abi had caused the fire.

Kevin confirmed the fire had started in Stefan’s car before quickly spreading to the offices of his publishing company.

“Thank god no one was inside”, Abi told Kevin over their morning coffee before predicting the arson attack was an insurance job.

But only hours later, the police arrived at the car garage demanding both Kevin and Abi attend the station for voluntary questioning over the fire.

The couple denied any involement in the arson attack and were both released. But back home Jack dropped a bombshell.
