Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson) is in for quite the shock in Coronation Street soon as Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford) makes her way back to the cobbles.

Tracy departed Weatherfield a few months ago for a new life in Spain with former footballer Tommy Orpington (Matt Milburn).

When Tommy arrived on the cobbles as a painter and decorator, he very quickly started doing more than renovating Number 1 by starting an affair with Steve’s wife.

When the truth was revealed, Tracy broke Steve’s heart by saying she didn’t want to get back with him, because she was finding their relationship boring.

To really add salt to the wound, Tracy then packed her bags and said goodbye to Coronation Street completely, ready to start again in Spain.

While Tracy is only making a brief return over the summer, sources previously confirmed to Metro.co.uk earlier this year that Kate’s exit was only temporary, with the character of Tracy always tipped to return eventually.

‘Tracy’s a Corrie institution all on her own – she will never be far from the cobbles even when she lives halfway across the world. She makes a brief trip back for a week later this summer to visit her family and deal with some Barlow family drama’, a source explained to The Sun.

Tracy will have a lot to catch up on when she eventually arrives back on the cobbles. After a fall and trip to hospital, Tracy’s father Ken (William Roache) was told he would need help from a carer until he’s feeling better.

The Barlows then hired Cassie (Claire Sweeney) to assist Ken, but she has developed a surprising connection with Steve along the way.

As if that wasn’t enough, Tracy’s daughter Amy (Elle Mulvaney) will become drawn into The Institute, the cult ran by Rowan (Emryhs Cooper)

Once Tracy discovers the drama her family have landed in since she left, will this be enough for her to say goodbye to the Spanish lifestyle and return permanently?
