Coronation Street’s Joel Deering has caused plenty of drama on the famous cobbles but now, his secret sibling has been ‘uncovered’ by fans.

Coronation Street fans reckon Joel Deering has a secret twin – and it’s a cobbles resident.

The sicko solicitor (Callum Lill) made his debut last year – but it’s only recently his true colours shone through when it was revealed that he was behind the disappearance of Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton).

And despite being presumed dead, Lauren made her return to the cobbles this month – leaving Joel stunned. She then dropped another bombshell – she was pregnant with his baby.

Since then, Joel has tried to secure her silence by giving her a place to stay at his old flat.

He also promised to pay for her to go to Ireland to start a new life, with Joel revealing she was flying out on August 12 and that he had three weeks to sort everything out.

However, later on, Joel’s real plan was revealed as he was seen searching on his laptop, “What drugs can induce premature labour?.”

Now, fans are convinced that the Lauren storyline could be interlinked with another harrowing plot on the soap: the cult storyline involving Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson) and the cult mentor Rowan (Emrhys Cooper).

As fans will recall Leanne has been lured in by the mysterious “self-help” group, led by sinister Rowan. The cult has alienated Leanne and shoved a wedge between herself and her loved ones, including her sister Toyah Habeeb (Georgia Taylor) and fiancé Nick (Ben Price).

Now, viewers reckon that Joel and Rowan could be in cahoots, or even brothers in what would be a huge DNA twist.

On a Coronation Street online forum, one user mused: “Does anyone think the two ‘main’ storylines (The Institute and Lauren) could interlink. Or maybe Rowan is Joel’s brother or someone from his past.”

A second replied: “I’ve always thought this!” While a third penned: “Rowan and Joel do look alike, probably both working together.”
