Coronation Street could have some dramatic scenes and all kinds of twists lined up if some theories are anything to go by.

There’s been all kinds of hints about certain storylines recently, as well as some worrying news about some characters. Recent scenes have seen Joel Deering finally exposed, Lauren Bolton facing heartache, the sad death of Paul Foreman and the return and then exit of Tracy Barlow.

Ahead, spoilers have teased one character’s fight for life, a love triangle and some dark Joel scenes ahead. But what can we expect in the coming weeks and months in Weatherfield?

If viewers are correct there could be a sad death amid an exit, someone’s comeuppance and a possible new romance which has sparked a divide with viewers. Here are three key twists that could air according to fans…

Joel’s dramatic end

Joel Deering is finally being exposed for his crimes and his downfall has to be on the way. Last week, we finally saw DS Swain have the power to charge him for attempting to kill Lauren Bolton’s baby while she was pregnant, resulting in baby Frankie’s premature birth.

He drugged her with pills to bring on an early labour, with Frankie surviving but he’s been poorly ever since. His other crimes include grooming young girls and assault, with him also trying to kill Lauren.

More than one person has vowed to speak out against him in court, so is his downfall finally set amid an exit being on the way? Some viewers believe he’s set for a dramatic end that could see another character harmed.

Fans are worried he will target Betsy Swain after she grassed him up over the pills, with him possibly wanting to silence her. Other fans feared DS Swain could be hurt, while more speculation suggests Joel could die or could at least fake his own death.

Swarla confirmed?

Viewers cannot rule out a possible romance for DS Swain and Carla Connor despite some fans not being keen on the idea. The pair have gotten closer recently, with them both being a shoulder to cry on for each other.

While both stars playing the characters have seemingly ruled out romance for the time being for their characters, fans can’t help but speculate there’s something going on between them. Fans believe scenes have massively hinted at a romance, calling them Swarla.

Some suggested a recent scene “foreshadowed” Carla would find love soon, believing it to be with Swain. Given Carla smirked when Swain’s daughter Betsy accused them of being on a date, some viewers think it’s only a matter of time.

Bethany exit amid death fears

Bethany Platt will feature in a horrifying new storyline in upcoming scenes as she’s left fighting for her life abroad. After undergoing cosmetic surgery, she ends up suffering the consequences of a botched procedure.

The character is left in a bad way after contracting sepsis with her fighting for survival. But fans think it could lead to a tragic death for the character as actress Lucy Fallon will soon leave the soap to go on maternity leave.
