Coronation Street fans have predicted tragedy ahead for one favourite on the ITV soap, as they commented about ‘taking a bullet’ for their beloved daughter unaware of the danger ahead

ITV soap Coronation Street may have teased deadly scenes ahead, with fans fearing for a character’s safety.

A chilling comment was aired recently amid the Joel Deering storyline, with it known his comeuppance is on the way. The character will soon leave the show with his downfall finally on the cards, as characters are growing suspicious about him.

It’s yet to be revealed that he’s been grooming young girls, while he also coerced Lauren Bolton into a sexual relationship before attacking her and leaving her for dead. Sickening scenes aired recently when he tried to kill her unborn baby, his own child, leading to the premature birth of Lauren’s son.

With clues starting to unravel about Joel, next week his fiancée Dee-Dee Bailey makes a worrying discovery once more. But it isn’t just her who is onto him, as DS Swain finally cottons onto something being not quite right about the solicitor.

On Friday we saw her horrified when her young daughter Betsy told her Joel had attacked her, before she, offscreen, revealed he’d been messaging her. As Swain confronted him about this it seemed as though he’d talked his way out of it, but her face made it clear she was onto him.

She was then shown discovering at the police station that Joel had represented Lauren when she was arrested last year, and she seemed shocked. It emerged he had not told the police about this link when Lauren went missing, and Swain, knowing about Betsy, appeared to suspect something was going on.

But it was something Lisa said in a previous episode, prior to her showdown with Joel, when talking about Betsy that has left fans concerned, knowing how far Joel would go to cover his tracks. Fearing Betsy could face danger at the hands of Joel, a comment from Swain made fans think she too could face harm in tragic scenes.

She was heard saying in a recent episode that she would “take a bullet” for her daughter, and fans can’t help but wonder if this is a foreshadowing, now that she’s got her eyes on the villain. Is it a hint at the dark scenes to come as Joel tries to avoid being caught?
