Coronation Street fans have seen numerous announcements and reports recently revealing cast exits on the way, with some confirmed and others yet to be announced

Coronation Street viewers have been reacting to the number of cast exits on the way following some big news and some recent reports.

While some of the names have yet to be officially confirmed by the show, reports and teasers have hinted at some soap faces departing the cobbles. There are also some characters that Corrie have confirmed are due to leave in the coming weeks or months.

Three cast members have announced their exits, while two others revealed there time on the show would not be forever recently. While one cast member denied an exit a year ago, it seems they will now leave the show.

The biggest exit of them all is the confirmed departure of soap icon Gail Platt, with Helen Worth leaving the role after 50 years. Viewers were devastated over this news recently, with her exit storyline being filmed.

Not included in the six exits is Sean Wilson’s character Martin Platt who was due to return to leave with Gail. He left the show while filming before his return even aired, with the storyline now rewritten.

As well as Gail’s departure, we also have Paul Foreman leaving the show with him set to die in devastating scenes at some point. The beloved character was diagnosed with motor neurone disease late last year and learned he did not have long to live, with Peter Ash filming his final scenes already.

This exit has hit fans hard given the tragic storyline and the way it has been portrayed. Two characters some may be glad to see the back of who are both tipped to leave soon are villains Joel Deering and Rowan Cunliffe. It was reported weeks ago that both actors Calum Lill and Emryhs Cooper were leaving the show, with some final scenes thought to have been filmed.

It comes amid Joel’s crimes and dark actions coming to light, while scammer Rowan may also meet his match in an upcoming episode. Another confirmed exit is Max Turner’s ex and Betsy Swain’s pal Sabrina, with the actress playing her revealing she had finished filming.

Luana Santos took to Instagram to thank the soap for her time as her character, with many fans sad to see her go. One fan posted: “Noooo Sabrina’s left the show!” as another said: “Ah that’s a shame I think Sabrina had potential.”

A final return that seems to be on the cards is Beth Tinker, after reports in December Lisa George had quit the show. Spoilers for next week’s episode appear to reveal an exit as the character is blackmailed to leave Weatherfield for good, after reports suggested a summer exit was on the cards for her.

Viewers reacting to the number of exits had mixed reactions, with one fan posting a sad face online as they commented that six characters were about to leave. One fan said of Beth’s exit: “I think it’s a poor exit for her.”

As for Rowan, a fan said: “Rowan needs to exit stage left IMMEDIATELY!!!” Lucy Fallon will be taking a break from the show too as Bethany Platt, following her pregnancy announcement. She wrote on Instagram: “Lots of Corrie related Q’s. I won’t be away for toooo long and I am returning after I pop the baby out xx.”
