Coronation Street fans left fuming at Paul Foreman storyline as they make desperate plea

Coronation Street viewers have pleaded with bosses to let Paul Foreman die with dignity as the character continues to battle Motor Neurone Disease on the ITV soap opera

Coronation Street viewers have pleaded with bosses to end a storyline.

Fans of the hit ITV soap have begged soap writers to allow Paul Foreman to die with dignity, following his Motor Neurone Disesase battle. The character, played by Peter Ash, was diagnosed with the condition back in 2023 and in recent months, his health has rapidly deteriorated.

Paul has now lost his ability to walk due to his muscles weakening and he was recently informed it was no longer safe for him to leave his home, which he shares with his husband Billy. Paul is also slowly losing his spark after battling the condition for over a year which has now left him using AI to talk to those around him.

Paul has also contemplated euthanasia throughout his battle, adding that he wanted to die on his own accord, rather than continuing to see his health deteriorate. But with his exit from the soap getting closer, fans believe that the storyline has been dragged out for far too long and believe Paul deserves the chance to die with dignity.

Taking to social media, one fan said: “Please wind this storyline up now, I liked Paul’s character and sad to see him go but this is just getting drawn out now, call it a day.” A second went on to write: “Brilliant opportunity to end it last week on a really good episode but now it feels like it’s getting dragged.”

Meanwhile, a third typed: “It amazes me how long this storyline has been dragged out for. Any longer and the original script will receive a silver jubilee.” Fans recently saw Paul’s husband, Billy, played by Daniel Brocklebank take him on his final outing from their flat in order to create some last memories.

The pair visited the church where they got married, spent time with their loved ones and ventured to the Rovers Return for one final pint with one another. Last month, Peter revealed to the Mirror about his upcoming exit from the soap opera, six years after he first appeared on the famous cobbles.

He told us: “It was amazing to film but tough because it was so emotional and hard but a beautiful episode and it was beautifully written. I’m looking forward to seeing that, it was great to work on. I’ll be sad to go but so grateful to be trusted with that storyline. It’s mixed emotions.”

Peter also hinted it wouldn’t be long until his character will die on screen – and appeared to let slip when it will happen. People have reacted amazing to it. The response has been
