Toyah Battersby (Georgia Taylor) has finally received some good news after her cancer diagnosis in Coronation Street.

Shortly after Toyah opened up to Nick (Ben Price) about giving birth to her stillborn baby when she was just 19 years old, life seemed to spiral out of control for her.

She was wrongly arrested for Rose’s murder, drawn into the situation with Leanne (Jane Danson) and Rowan’s (Emryhs Cooper) cult, developed feelings for brother in law Nick, slept with him, thought she was pregnant, and then got told she actually had a form of ovarian cancer.

Amid all of this trauma, Toyah has tried to find small positives, which have largely involved Nick. They’ve tried to ignore their feelings for each other, but it hasn’t really worked.

In tonight’s episode, Nick and Toyah were enjoying spending time with each other in the flat while Leanne was away. It was fairly domestic and represented what these two characters would be like as a couple long-term.

Nick was popping out to the shops and later, they were going to the hospital for the results of Toyah’s operation.

When they arrived at the consultant’s office, it wasn’t long until Toyah and Nick learnt that the operation had proved incredibly successful.

The doctor said that Toyah would have to attend routine check-ups but ultimately, she can feel optimistic. The cancer, for now, has gone.

Back at home, Toyah and Nick decided to celebrate with a fancy dinner and the third best champagne from the Bistro.

As they enjoyed their evening, they couldn’t help but wonder what will happen when Leanne eventually returns.

Both acknowledging there wasn’t actually anything they could do because that situation hasn’t happened yet, Nick and Toyah agreed to enjoy every moment they have together.
