Chrissie’s full EastEnders comeback ‘confirmed’ as she returns

While Chrissie Watts’ recent return to EastEnders had been billed as a guest stint, the soap has hinted at a further comeback for the character on Thursday.

Tracy-Ann Oberman reprised the role earlier this month, some 19 years after Chrissie was sent down for the murder of husband Den Watts (Leslie Grantham).

This week’s episodes have seen her brought face-to-face with Den’s daughter Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean), who was sentenced to a week behind bars for being in contempt of court during Dean Wicks’ (Matt Di Angelo) trial.

After their reunion got off to a terrifying start with Chrissie plotting to attack Sharon, the two women reconciled on Thursday as they bonded over the parallels in their lives.

With her parole hearing conveniently timed for her on-screen return, Chrissie was then granted early release from prison – and there was one place she headed straight for.

She was then seen driving through Albert Square in a vintage convertible, before pulling up outside The Vic, where she murdered and buried Den all those years previously.

It was then revealed she was accompanied by none other than her former flame Jake Moon, after actor Joel Beckett made a surprise cameo appearance to reunite the couple.

While Jake rejected her suggestion of stopping by the pub for ‘a swift half’, Chrissie might just have some unfinished business in Walford.

Before leaving prison, Chrissie told Sharon of how she’d briefly shared a cell with Ruby Allen (Louisa Lytton), who had given birth to a baby.

Putting two and two together, it dawned on Sharon that Ruby must have been carrying ex-husband Martin Fowler’s (James Bye) child when she was jailed in 2021.

With Louisa Lytton set to reprise her role in the lead-up to EastEnders’ 40th anniversary for an extended stint, could Chrissie reunite with her former cellmate to wreak havoc on Albert Square?

Actress Tracy-Ann Oberman previously admitted she’d be open to returning once again, saying:  ‘I had such a great time, so you know what they say, never say never.’
