Casualty fan-favourite looks totally different 24 years on from leaving BBC show

Famous for his bleach blonde hair, this 1990s fan-favourite looks totally unrecognisable after kicking off their career in Casualty.

Jonathan Kerrigan has gone on to work on TV shows in the US after his big breakthrough in the noughties.

These days he looks worlds away from his beloved Sam Colloby character. Kerrigan’s first on-screen appearance

came when he starred in the music video for the Chemical Brothers’ 1995 single, Life Is Sweet. It was one year later he joined Casualty.

Throughout Jonathan’s time on the show, he featured in compelling storylines that revolved around his character’s sexuality. Memorable scenes involved Sam discovering that a female car crash victim was having an affair with his boyfriend.

After four seasons on Casualty, Jonathan’s character bid farewell to the A&E department in 1999, transitioning to a quieter life in rural Yorkshire. Starring in Heartbeat, he was known as PC Rob Walker, appearing in 72 episodes between 2004 and 2007.

After leaving Casualty, Jonathan passed the baton to Joe McFadden. He then ventured into new territories, gracing the screens in the US crime drama NCIS and the BBC drama The Club. His career continued to ascend as he secured a role alongside Naomi Watts in the film The Somnambulists.

In his personal life, Jonathan Kerrigan found love with Shelley Conn, who portrayed Lady Mary Sharma in Netflix’s Bridgerton. The couple welcomed a son and even shared the screen in the popular series Death in Paradise, portraying Xander and Marina Shepherd.

Jonathan’s appearance has undergone a transformation over the years, with his short blonde hair now replaced by a mane of dark brown waves. His most recent television role is in Irvine Welsh’s Crime. He stars as Mark McKendrick alongside acclaimed actors Dougray Scott and Angela Griffin.
