BBC EastEnders Teddy Mitchell linked to Walford serial killer as fans spot telling clues

Teddy Mitchell was revealed as the new owner of No.1 Albert Square in EastEnders and celebrated with a housewarming party. But fans now believe he may have a link to Gray Atkins.

Though his motives and intentions remain a complete mystery, Teddy Mitchell is thought to share a close and personal bond with Gray Atkins as fans predict he’s “worse” than Phil Mitchell.

Smooth-talking and charming Teddy made his EastEnders debut earlier this year with actor Roland Manookian taking on the role of Billy Mitchell’s long-lost half-brother.

But since then, viewers of the BBC One programme have been left with more questions than answers as it’s become clear Teddy and his sons are running from someone, desperately hoping to make a new life for themselves in Walford.

During this Thursday’s (August 22) instalment of the long-running show, Teddy was relieved to move into his new home, No.1 Albert Square, sold to him by Gray Atkins, who was sentenced for murder in 2022.

Unfortunately, his purchase led Gray to boot his estranged wife Chelsea Fox out of the home, with their young son Jordan in tow and she struggled to cope when she caught Teddy making fun of No.1’s murderous past, which includes the deaths of Tina Carter and Chantelle Atkins, who Gray relentlessly abused throughout their marriage.

After learning that a cash-strapped Chelsea had been booted out of house and home, Teddy took it upon himself to confront Gray’s solicitor as they finalised the paperwork over No.1 and in a surprising twist, as shown in an early BBC iPlayer release, Teddy was able to convince Gray to leave Chelsea £30k in a trust fund for Jordan, after threatening to back out of their deal if he left a young mother and her son to starve.

The gesture shocked Chelsea, who was later invited to Teddy’s housewarming party, and while many viewers of the show have been hoping the newcomer’s charm is more than just a facade, some believe they can see right through him, predicting he could be worse than his tough man cousin Phil Mitchell.

“Nah there’s something odd about their lack of remorse / sarcastic empathy tone for Gray murdering people and Harry making jokes about it too seems suspicious”, one viewer ranted on Reddit following this Thursday’s scenes. “Yeah, Phil is bad but he isn’t a psychopath. I think Teddy is possibly psychopathic though. And his fashion sense is criminal!!!”, another agreed.

But in another theory shared online, a handful of soap fans agreed that Teddy may be tied to Gray Atkins. “The whole storyline doesn’t make sense because Jordan is Gray’s son and he’s legally not allowed to kick a child out of their home, especially when it’s his own child”, one viewer wrote.

They added: “I get the impression there’s a connection between Teddy and Gray, as soon as Teddy rocks up to the Square Chelsea is turfed out of her home and Teddy strides straight in and makes generic comments when he learned about Gray from Billy.”

Another fan echoed: “I wouldn’t be surprised if there is a dodgy connection between Gray and Teddy. It’s all a bit too quick and convenient. I wonder if there was a way of Gray pretending he was selling it to have power over Chelsea and kick her out, when actually he is renting it out to Teddy.”

They then went a step further: “Maybe this is foreshadowing Gray being back on our screens again soon, Teddy visiting him in prison. You just never know with EE.”
