Don’t shoot the messenger, but Virgin River fans may need to wait even longer for season 5.
Star Alexandra Breckenridge (who plays Melinda “Mel” Monroe) recently sat down for an interview with Glamor magazine.
The 39-year-old confirmed that there was some overlap between her two shows, This Is Us and Virgin River.
Unfortunately, she indirectly hinted that Virgin River season 5 could be postponed because production didn’t start on time. However, the delay allows her to return to This Is Us (where she plays Sophie) to happen.
“We were supposed to start shooting season five of Virgin River in March, but it was pushed to July,” she said. “So, had we started when we were supposed to, I don’t know that Sophie and Kevin would’ve ended up together.”
Breckenridge explained that she had tried to make both shows work in the past, but the production schedules were always a conflict.
“So, I ended up on Virgin River, and when This Is Us reached out to have me come back in season four, I was already filming season two of Virgin River, which is great news,” she said. “But unfortunately, because of scheduling conflicts, I couldn’t do it.”
Breckenridge continued, “So, that was shelved for a while. They’ve been trying to get me to come back since I’ve been on Virgin River.”
One thing’s for sure: Virgin River season 5 will be worth the wait.
The release procedure, however, can take up to six months which will put the movie on screen in May 2023. Netflix however, has not yet provided the date.
Turning to Mark Ghanime, Instagram released a screenshot of a season 5 meeting. Mark Ghanime made his acting debut in season 4 as Dr. Cameron Hayek.
New members are also added to the cast who will be seen for the first time in Virgin River season 5.
