Hull acting agency with clients securing major roles on ITV Coronation Street and BBC Casualty

Three years have passed since Hull’s first acting agency, NLD Management, was established.

The agency represents children and young people, and is now expanding to include a select group of adults.

Since its inception in 2021, it has been instrumental in launching the careers of numerous aspiring actors across the region.

“We currently have clients working on some really exciting projects filming main cast roles for Netflix, BBC, ITV and Paramount to name a few,” Founder Tilly Miller revealed.

Over time, the agency has forged strong industry ties, enabling its clients to audition for roles in theatre, television and film productions by the UK’s leading casting directors.

Tilly explained the process: “Often the first stage is for our clients to film a self-tape which they can do at home. If the casting team think they are a good fit for the role this will be followed by recalls and potential chemistry reads.

“It can be quite a long and painstaking process. I’ve had many sleepless nights when clients get down to the final few for a role.”

Reflecting on the journey, founder Tilly Miller said: “A lot has happened in three years. I always knew we had the talent here and the success of the agency really solidifies this.”

The agency has seen several success stories in that time, including:

Will, 17, who landed a guest lead role in BBC’s Casualty, as well as jetting off to film a commercial in South Africa and spending a month on a professional theatre run.

Billie, 11, who plays Ruby Dobbs in ITV’s Coronation Street, said her first audition after joining the agency led to her current role: “NLD Management have helped make my dream of becoming an actress come true,” she revealed.

Savannah, 12, previously played Eliza Woodrow on Coronation Street before landing a role in a BBC series, where she has been tackling challenging storylines for the past few months.

And Liberty, 6, boasts major TV credits including Malpractice (ITV) and Three Little Birds (ITV), and spent her summer in the Middle East filming a new TV drama alongside an all-star cast.

Siblings Blake, 7, and Bobbie, 5, often audition together. Bobbie said: “The best thing I’ve done this year is a TV advert with my brother, we had so much fun!” Blake added: “My highlight so far this year is being cast in a huge film and being on set alongside really famous actors.”

Finley, aged 11, recently joined the agency and has already secured a recurring role in a CBBC series. His mother, Kathryn, shared that he is about to start filming his first TV role and is ‘loving every second.’

Reflecting on the agency’s success, Tilly said: “I love that the agency is making a name for itself, not just locally but across the UK. We now have actors applying to us from all over the country and casting directors contacting us from the US. It’s all very exciting.

“Without a doubt the best part of my job is calling a client to let them know they’ve booked the job – it is pure magic.”

She added that she feels fortunate to be part of life-changing moments for their clients.

In addition to the agency, Tilly also runs Northern Lights Drama School, which offers weekly acting classes in East Yorkshire. She explained that the agency and drama school work closely together, making the classes an excellent starting point for aspiring actors.

“I am really looking forward to seeing what the future holds for the actors on our books. From Hull to Hollywood. Watch this space!”
