Fall is just around the corner and that can mean only one thing in the television world: Fall Preview time! As readers know, we released our previews and predictions for Days of Our Lives and the rest of the daytime world, just this week. There’s Abigail and Chad developments, Johnny and Chanel drama, and unease in the Kiriakis household! And we aren’t just talking about Xander, Brady, Fiona and Sarah.
But there were also a few other Days of Our Lives tidbits that have been released that caught our eyes! For one thing, Tate is going to end up torn between Sofia and Holly — something we couldn’t have imagined just a few weeks ago. But then, that was before Tate blew up Holly’s relationship with Eric and her mom and tried standing up for his dad in the face of Holly’s anger. Now, we can see her pushing him away all too readily — and right into Sofia’s waiting arms!
But one of the more unexpected fall teasers has to do with the Hernandez family — and it may just solve a mystery that’s been bugging us for nearly half a year!
Back in April, before the show confirmed that Cherie Jimenez was, indeed, taking over for Gabi, Days of Our Lives released an image on-set from Rafe’s house of her and actor Al Calderon. The show asked who they could be, and while we got one half of the answer at the beginning of the summer, we may have finally gotten the other half now!
Because this fall, the show teases, Gabi and Rafe’s cousin is coming to town. And while we thought that Calderon may be playing troublemaking brother Dario (though he did look a bit young to take over a character last played by Jordi Vilasuso), we’re guessing that instead, he’s playing that cousin! Expanding the Hernandez family once again is something we’ve long been clamoring for (in fact, we included that in our photo gallery list of changes for the new writers to make), and we know Jimenez is likely thrilled about the fact!
When Soaps.com spoke with her a little while back, she said she’d love to see the Hernandez family return and was “excited to see where the writers take that.”
It looks like she’s getting her wish, though not quite in the way that we expected! The next question, though, is what brings their cousin to town… and who will he be mixing it up with? Depending on how old he is, he could be mixing it up with a newly single Holly. We’re guessing he won’t be hooking up with fake Abigail, seeing as how she and Chad are pushing forward — though that’s got to crumble eventually, and he could be just the man to be there to pick up the pieces with her!
