From a self-improvement “cult” and a young woman’s mysterious disappearance, to a man’s day-to-day struggles with MND, the ITV soap has continued to hook fans throughout 2024.

Now, there are just a few months of the year left and a few more exit storylines on the horizon.

Who is leaving the cast of Corrie in 2024?

Paul Foreman – Peter Ash

Paul Foreman (played by Peter Ash), Billy Mayhew’s (Daniel Brocklebank) husband, was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease (MND) in April 2023 with the soap closely following his gradual physical deterioration.

Working with the charity MND Association, Coronation Street has shown the impact of the condition on not only Paul but his loved ones for more than a year.

It has now been confirmed that actor Paul Foreman’s final scenes will be shown next week as he is set to die in a heartbreaking episode.

Gail Rodwell – Helen Worth

Gail Rodwell is a stalwart of Coronation Street, having been in the soap for half a century but will be saying goodbye at the end of the year.

She had started filming her final episodes last month which was to involve the return of her ex-husband Martin Platt (Sean Wilson), however, he had to pull out due to “personal reasons”.

In a statement, actress Helen Worth said: “This year felt like the perfect time to leave the show after celebrating 50 years in the most wonderful job on the most wonderful street in the world.

“I made the decision at the start of the year and spoke to the producers who were very kind and understanding.

“I have been truly blessed to have been given the most incredible scripts week in week out, and to have worked with fantastic actors, directors and a brilliant crew.

“The past 50 years have flown by and I don’t think the fact that I am leaving has quite sunk in yet.”

Rowan Cunliffe – Emrhys Cooper

It has been reported that The Institute storyline will be drawn to a close before the year is out, meaning the departure of manipulative Rowan Cunliffe (Emrhys Cooper).

He has been luring Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson) further into The Institute’s fold for months now and slowly but surely, he has started to lose his grip on the situation but how will his time end on the show?

It has also been hinted that Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton) could be leaving the show too as actress Cait Fitton reportedly changed her Instagram bio to read “previously Lauren in Coronation Street”, although this has since been changed.

There has been no talk of if groomer and abuser Joel Deering (Calum Lill) will be departing anytime soon but he is bound to get his comeuppance sooner rather than later.
