Beloved Corrie star in tears over leaving soap as fans all say same thing about her exit

Coronation Street’s Beth, played by Lisa George, made a “rushed” exit from the cobbles this week, and the actress has since broken her silence on her character’s exit

Corrie star Lisa George has expressed her sorrow over leaving the soap – with fans not impressed with her exit storyline.

Beth, portrayed by Lisa, first made her appearance on the cobbles in 2011. With her prying nature and outspoken demeanour, Beth quickly became a fan favourite.

The factory worker was involved in several major storylines, from the heartbreaking death of her niece Sinead Tinker (Katie McGlynn) to her own relationship with Kirk Sutherland (Andy Whyment).

However, after 13 years, Beth bid farewell to the cobbles this week, and according to actress Lisa, she was overwhelmed with emotion halfway through her final scene.

Soap favourite Beth was forced out of Weatherfield by corrupt policeman Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) after she tried to beat him at his own game, reports the Express.

Beth caught Kit collaborating with troublemaker Sid – who has been selling counterfeit goods. In an attempt to gather evidence and blackmail him, Beth recorded their interaction and threatened Kit – which infuriated him.

However, when Beth’s son Craig (Colson Smith) admitted to Kit about the cover-up of Faye Windass and Emma Brooker’s hit and run in 2021, Kit used this information to his advantage. Taking it a step further, Kit then ordered Beth to leave Weatherfield, or he would inform the police about Craig’s cover-up.

During Friday’s emotional episode (August 30), Beth said her tearful goodbyes, and as expected, Lisa was emotional while filming her final scene.

Lisa George has opened up about her emotional departure from Coronation Street, revealing that filming Beth Tinker’s final scene was indeed her last moment on set. “Unusually Beth’s departure was my final scene of filming, often we film out of order but as I filmed it I knew Beth was leaving and it was my final scene on the cobbles.” she said.

She also shared how the experience moved her to tears: “Halfway through when he called the cab to stop, and they got out I actually got really, quite tearful. I cried afterwards because it’s been this huge part of my life for such a long time,” Lisa added.

However, fans were less than impressed with the way Beth’s exit was handled on the show. Many took to social media to express their disappointment at the hasty goodbye.

On Twitter, one viewer complained: “Is that it for Beth? Thirteen years on the street and just gone in the first ad break? Deserved more.”

Another fan commented on the abruptness of the storyline: “Having Bertie and Daniel in Roy’s Rolls one minute and then waving Beth off in the Street the next was as quick and
