Virgin River star Alexandra Breckenridge is reminding fans and followers to perform their civic duty by voting at the next general election. Breckenridge, 42, shared a video of herself wearing gray leggings and a pink sweatshirt with “voting is in style” on it, posing next to her pool. “We are 99 days out from Election Day! #votingisinstyle Your vote matters ,” she captioned the post. Breckenridge has been working since she was a teenager—here’s how she stays healthy, positive, and focused.

Breckenridge loves Pilates and hates one very specific exercise. “I was a competitive gymnast till the age of 10,” she told Us Weekly. “I wasn’t that great, but I loved it. My favorite workout is on the Pilates reformer. My least favorite is a burpee — I refuse to do them… I got my scuba diving license because I’m terrified of drowning and I wanted to prove I could overcome my fear.”

Breckenridge is realistic about having a work-life balance. “I think when you work as much as I do, things inevitably get neglected—like my free time or spending enough time with my husband,” she told New Beauty. “I can either do all of that, and spend all my time with my family as much as I possibly can, but then I didn’t study for work the next day. I try to keep that balance, but there’s only so many hours in a day. It gets overwhelming. I think the trick is not to beat yourself up over all of the little things and just try to improve on what you can, right?”

Breckenridge admits her beautiful hair on Virgin River is hard work to maintain. “Typically, I get hair extensions and we keep doing the color over the season to get the right tone,” she told New Beauty. “It’s not easy. Sometimes, it just looks different even after post-production—the contrast is different, the root color can look heavy and dark. We’ve been working hard to dial that in as we get along.
