BBC EastEnders legend teases devastating scenes ahead after ‘immense heartbreak’

Sharon Watts has faced horrific losses during her time in Walford and, ahead of Dean Wicks’ explosive trial, EastEnders’ Letitia Dean has made it clear things could get worse

Things could be going form bad to worse for Sharon Watts as actress Letitia Dean opened up on what’s ahead for her EastEnders alter ego.

Letitia Dean, 56, has portrayed the Walford royalty since the BBC One soap was first aired in 1985 and has grown accustomed to the ups and downs of life in Walford. However, Dean Wicks’ upcoming murder trial could reopen old wounds for the character.

Sharon has faced some of life’s biggest tragedies during her time in Albert Square, from the loss of her lovers to the death of her own son in 2020, and to top it all off, she is overwhelmed with guilt following the murder of her former fiancé Keanu Taylor.

“She feels incredibly guilty, but it’s so much bigger than the court case”, Letitia explained about her character’s true state of mind. “Keanu ultimately died at Christmas because Linda saved Sharon’s life, but there is so much more collateral damage that has happened as a result of her and Keanu’s love that goes well beyond the trial and Christmas.”

The soap star added that Sharon has “endured immense heartbreak”, while still trying to dodge prison as she knows the Six have a fragile alliance due to Linda Carter’s (played by Kellie Bright) own struggles.

Letitia summarised Sharon’s troubled times on the Square: “The breakdown of her marriage to Phil, the death of her son, Denny, and ultimately the death of Keanu on top of everything else that has followed.”

“Sharon has endured immense heartbreak because she dared to give into her feelings for Keanu, and I don’t think she will ever forgive herself for the pain it’s inflicted on everyone around her.” Could this push Sharon over the edge – and maybe even away from the Square?

While viewers will have to wait and see, soap bosses have lined up plenty of drama ahead for Dean Wicks’ murder trial. One exit has already been confirmed, but viewers are predicting a second character could be sent to prison in a twist.

Keanu’s real killer Linda Carter helped frame him, and now she and The Six must face
