Fans were left in despair after the Virgin River actor referred to the photo as his “last scene” on the series. Will the preacher leave?
Colin Lawrence, star of the Netflix series Virgin River, left fans worried recently. In a video shared on his Instagram, the actor, who plays the character Preacher, revealed that he was filming his “last scene” with co-star Kandyse McClure in season five.
The behind-the-scenes clip showed Kandyse’s new character, Kaia Bryant, who develops a romance with Preacher in the series.
In the video, Colin familiarized himself with fans by saying, “Hey guys, it’s me again. This is the fifth season of Virgin River and this would be the last scene of Virgin River with Preacher and the lovely Kandyse McClure.” Kandyse appears next, commenting: “That’s it, ah.” Colin added: “You’re going to love how this summer goes and love her even more.”
Fans were worried that Colin would leave the series. Comments came in like “No, you can’t do that to me. The show isn’t the same without you… you can’t leave the show… why do you want to leave the show?” and “You have to keep going, you are a big part of the show” were seen on social media.
A third fan asked: “Wait, why is it the ‘last’ scene???? Aren’t they the happy ending???” while another commented: “You have to stay Preacher, you are so sweet.”
There has also been speculation about the fate of Colin’s character following his involvement in the cover-up of Paige’s husband’s murder in season two. One fan asked: “Are you going to jail?”
Despite fan concerns, however, Colin was likely referring to his last scene in season five rather than his last scene on the series. While there’s no reason to suspect he’s leading the drama, executive producer Patrick Sean Smith has already said fans should be worried about Preacher in part two.
