Back in April, we reported that Melissa Reeves was coming back to Days of Our Lives as Jennifer Horton. However, her episodes won’t air until later this year and the character is due back in Salem before that so it’s up to Cady McClain to play Jack’s wife for this particular appearance.
In the spring, Reeves was added to the list of actors returning to DAYS for the special memorial episodes paying tribute to Doug Williams and his portrayer, the late Bill Hayes.
However, currently, Chad and Jack are investigating the possibility that a blonde mystery woman they found at the end of Clyde’s trail of breadcrumbs could possibly be Abigail back from the dead.
Soap Opera Digest is reporting that McClain will be reprising the role of Jennifer as part of this storyline since Jennifer will definitely have some questions for Jack about their daughter’s resurrection.
Chad and Jack are doing a DNA test on the mystery woman this week so look for Jennifer to be back in Salem for some answers very soon.
When Jennifer Horton was first introduced in February 1976, she was played by child actresses until 1979. Upon her return to Salem in 1985, the character was aged into a teen with Reeves playing the role for decades (aside from a 1995-98 recast with Stephanie Cameron).
McClain first took over as Jennifer in October 2020 as a temporary recast due to Reeves being unable to commute from Tennessee to California during the height of the COVID pandemic.
Reeves reclaimed her role in December 2021 for another brief run but when Jennifer returned again in June 2022, it was McClain again.
McClain is no stranger to being a recast, having taken over the roles of All My Children’s Dixie, As the World Turns’ Rosanna, and The Young & The Restless’ Kelly.
The talented actress has also won three Daytime Emmy Awards in three different categories for playing three different characters on three different networks. She earned the 2021 trophy for Outstanding Guest Performer for her work on DAYS… could these scenes make up another Emmy reel? Stay tuned and find out!
