EastEnders icon hints at return seven years after being kicked out of family home

The Carters turned their back on Aunt Babe seven years ago and former EastEnders Anette Badland has now opened up on whether or not she’d return to the BBC One soap

EastEnders villain Aunt Babe could be about to make a return to Albert Square.

Anette Badland played the memorable character in the BBC One soap from 2014 until 2017 when she kicked out of her family home by Danny Dyer (Danny Dyer).

After being abandoned by her loved ones, Aunt Babe stood in the pouring rain outside Queen Vic and laid a curse on the iconic pub. The Carters may have turned their back on her but could be about to return to cause more carnage in Walford?

Appearing on a repeated episode of Love Your Weekend with Alan Titchmarsh on Sunday (August 11), the presenter asked whether or not she’d like to return to the show.

Anette said: “Yes. Yes I would.” Alan added: “Well, you cursed them so we’ll see what happens.” She continued: “I say ‘I’ll be back’ when? I don’t know.”

Alan pointed out: “At least you haven’t been murdered. That leaves the door open to a degree.” Anette said: “But I loved working with Danny [Dyer] and Kellie [Bright] and all of them.”

The Carters have certainly been cursed since Aunt Babe left. It didn’t take long for things to go downhill for the Carters, with Sylvie Carter dying in a tragic accident in March 2017 and Mick and Linda got divorced in heartbreaking scenes but they got back together before he vanished at sea.

More recently, In October last year, Linda’s evil rapist brother-in-law Dean Wicks (Matt Di Angelo) tore Linda’s world apart. The months that followed brought further pain and suffering to the landlady, as she tried to cope with Dean’s overbearing presence.

It comes after EastEnders boss Chris Clenshaw confirmed that soap legends will be returning to mark the soap’s 40th anniversary next year. With big names like Chrissie Watts and David Wicks already confirmed to make a comeback this year, there are reportedly some even bigger names in the works for next year.
