In the July 26th episode of Days, Fiona revealed the true reason for her prolonged absence from Xander. She disclosed that she had a nervous breakdown, leading to her being institutionalized for several years.

After her release, Fiona struggled to locate Xander, only to find that Victor Kiriakis (John Aniston) had already become a significant figure in his life.

So because of this, Fiona chose to step back and allow Victor to take care of Xander, refraining from revealing the truth about Xander’s paternity.

She did that in order to preserve his love for Victor’s brother, Titus Kiriakis (never cast-offscreen mention), whom he had believed to be his father.

DOOL Spoilers – Xander Kiriakis Was Skeptical Of Fiona Cook’s Story

Xander, of course, had his doubts about the story when Sarah updated him, but she insisted that Fiona appeared to be genuine and was being truthful.

We’re still unsure about Fiona’s honesty and her history, and whether she’s hiding bigger secrets that led her to leave Xander for so long.

However, let’s entertain the idea that Fiona is being truthful-that she truly experienced a nervous breakdown and was committed to a mental institution for several years.

If that’s the case, then the show could be laying the groundwork for what will happen to Fiona now that she’s back.

That means the show just might be preparing for another psychiatric episode for Fiona somewhere down the line in the future; or possibly even sooner.
