EastEnders Reiss exposed as Debbie’s parents make jaw-dropping discovery after death

SPOILERS: EastEnders’ Reiss Colwell is on edge after he killed his wife Debbie recently – and next week things are set to get worse for the accountant in the BBC soap

EastEnders’ Reiss Colwell will be caught out next week, soap spoilers have revealed.

The accountant (Johnny Freeman) has been overwhelmed in recent weeks with the stresses surrounding his money issues. As fans will recall, Reiss is married to Debbie, who was hospitalised in a long-term coma after a stroke in the bath.

At first, Reiss was using money from Debbie to fund his and partner Sonia’s (Natalie Cassidy) IVF journey, but with Debbie’s care home fees mounting, Reiss resorted to desperate measures and started scamming Sharon (Letitia Dean).

However, during Wednesday’s trip to the Square (July 24), things took a very dark turn when Reiss visited Debbie in the care home. In gripping scenes, Reiss stood up as he moved a pillow from behind Debbie’s head and gave her a kiss on the forehead.

He then cried and looked down at Debbie as he smothered her face. And in Thursday’s episode (July 25) it was confirmed that Debbie was dead, leaving Reiss overcome with emotion – but able to cover his guilt.

Along with Sonia, Reiss headed to the care home, where a nurse told them that they thought Debbie had died from complications due to her recent pneumonia. But over in the soap next week, things take a dramatic turn when Debbie’s parents show up – and they want answers.

In Monday’s episode (July 29), the police arrive to tell Reiss that Debbie’s post-mortem is complete, and that he can visit her while they wait for the results.

Back in the Square, Phil spots Reiss and demands a return on his ‘investment’, as Sonia watches from afar. Later, Sonia asks what happened with Phil and Reiss tries to cover.

However, pushed to breaking point, he admits he stole from Phil. Although shocked, Sonia accompanies Reiss to visit Debbie where they bump into Debbie’s parents Brenda and Hugh on the way out.

Things get tense after Brenda starts asking some pressing questions. Sonia then offers her condolences to Debbie’s parents, but they don’t know who she is. Sonia is stunned when Reiss says that she’s his landlady and conceals the truth about their relationship, but she goes along with it. They then head to No.25 for refreshments.

However, after Reiss talks Sonia round by explaining why he hasn’t told them about her, Brenda catches them kissing and he’s forced to come clean. Later, Brenda and Hugh overhear Sharon and Teddy talking about Reiss and are shocked by what they discover.
