Coronation Street’s Georgia Taylor makes co-stars giggle with unrecognisable snap with soap star boyfriend

Fans of the ITV soap may know that the Toyah Habeeb actress is loved-up with her former on-screen husband Charlie De Melo

Coronation Street star Georgia Taylor clearly put a smile on the faces of her co-stars as she appeared in an almost unrecognisable snap with her soap star beau.

Fans of the ITV soap may know that the actress, known for playing Toyah Habeeb, is loved-up with her former on-screen husband Charlie De Melo whose character Imran Habeeb was tragically killed off back in 2022.

The pair appeared to confirm their romance back in February 2023 when they were seen in a string of snaps together from her birthday break. They have since been seen enjoying gigs together as well as various trips but do tend to keep their relationship out of the spotlight.

But proving they know how to have a laugh, Charlie took to social media with a rare snap of the pair and you might not have recognised them as they were a far cry from their usual selves – or soap alter egos.

Charlie was seen channelling the Nintendo character Luigi while a pal was seen dressed up as Mario alongside him. The pair were seen jumping energetically into the air alongside Toyah, who was beaming while sporting a brilliant costume depicting Yoshi, the dinosaur-like character that acts as an ally of Mario and Luigi.

“It’s-a-he! Mario!” Charlie captioned the fun images with members of the Corrie cast quick to respond. Jack P Shepherd, who plays David Platt in the soap, said: “You enjoyed this way more than anyone else.” Jane Danson, who plays Georgia’s on-screen sister Leanne Battersby, replied: “One of my fav pics of all time!”

Sally Carman-Duttine, who plays Weatherfield’s Abi Webster, shared: “I actually can’t cope with this.” While former Corrie star Bhavna Limbachia, who plays Charlie’s sister Rhana Habeeb in Corrie, added: “Love this!”

Georgia recently opened up about life on Corrie and was asked whether she imagined the show would be such a big part of your life when she first started, the soap star admitted: “No not at all.”

She continued: “When I joined the show I was on a five-month contract and I didn’t see anything beyond that. So the fact that it’s really shaped so much of my life and my personal life is quite extraordinary. It really is a gift and it makes that place even more special to me.”

She added: “Going away and coming back, meeting Charlie, being reunited with Jane at work and now being back up north near my family, I just feel incredibly lucky and thankful for the people that the show has brought into my life.”
