Coronation Street fans say ‘don’t hate me’ after Nick Tilsley’s bombshell claim

Nick told his brother David Platt how he really feels after Leanne Battersby’s latest decision

Coronation Street fans have said ‘Please don’t hate me’ as they gave their verdict over a possible new romance following Nick Tilsley’s bombshell claim. Viewers of the ITV soap are aware that Nick and Toyah Habeeb have had a secret brief fling.

They had previously predicted the pair could find solace in one another after Toyah’s heartbreaking baby secret was uncovered and Nick found himself being pushed away from his partner Leanne Battersby due to her involvement with Rown Cunliffe and The Institute.

Nick and Toyah soon shared a kiss and later, after more run-ins with Leanne and Rowan, the pair got close once again and slept together. They were then shocked to learn Toyah was pregnant, only for her to later be given the news she has ovarian cancer, which gave the false pregnancy result.

During Monday night’s Corrie (July 22), Toyah was seen being called into the hospital to be given her results. After Leanne Battersby’s involvement with The Insitute, Toyah decided to go to the appointment without her support, worried she’ll turn to reality coding to help.

She decided to go on her own, only for Nick to show up. She was told during the consultation that she had germ-cell ovarian cancer that would require an operation to remove the tumour and also learned she may also need to have chemotherapy.

Back at home, Toyah reeled as Leanne insinuated her sister’s cancer may have been caused by her “bad energy”. It led to a row between Leanne and Nick before a distraught Toyah shouted at them to stop before disappearing to her room. After some though, Toyah then told Nick and Leanne that she didn’t want either of them involved in her treatment. “I can [do this alone] and I will,” she vowed.

But during Wednesday night’s (July 24) trip to Weatherfield, Toyah was left emotional as she had her bloods taken and the nurse asked whether she had the support of family and friends. As she spoke about being alone, she emerged from the room to find Nick waiting.

Bursting into tears, she embraced him and told him not to listen to her and that she needed the support of her loved ones more than ever. But, as they hugged, a mystery person started taking photos of them, similar to the man who previously caught them kissing through the flat’s balcony window.

Nick gave chase but to no avail and with his brother David Platt in tow, he headed to the Chariot Square Hotel and confronted Rowan before punching him, leaving Leanne and those who had come for the Institutes talk, horrified. Nick was then left having to give an edited version of why he thought Rowan was spying on Toyah and the motives behind it.

Once home, Leanne demanded a chat with both Nick and Toyah. Telling Toyah she was hurt by her rejection over her treatment, Leanne explained that Rowan had helped her decide to “withdraw with love”. Leanne then declared that she would be “actively disconnecting” from Toyah’s illness.

After Leanne left, Toyah reminded Nick they weren’t a couple and he needed to watch his behaviour. However, when spoken to by David in the street, Nick admitted that he was falling in love with Toyah. And it seems Corrie fans would be on board with the relationship, despite Toyah being Nick’s almost-sister-in-law.

@_TS_13 said: “Pls don’t hate me but I kinda like Toyah and Nick #corrie.” @JAli89_91 replied: “Me too. I want them to be together.” @RyanTheSoapking commented: “Nick & Toyah are actually good together. #Corrie.” @Ralph_Hapschatt added: “Nick, just get with Toyah and tell the world. Problem solved. #Corrie.”
