Danny Dyer’s latest venture has seen him take the music industry by storm as he features in a music video for English singer-songwriter Lucy Rose’s latest single ‘Sail Away’.

Danny Dyer has left fans baffled by his unexpected career change from TV into the music industry.

The 46-year-old has become a household name thanks to his multiple acting roles and TV appearances, most notably his role as Mick Carter in one of the country’s biggest soap operas – EastEnders. After almost a decade he left the show in tragic fashion during the 2022 Christmas Day EastEnders episode.

Since his departure from the BBC soap Danny has hosted and featured in a host of TV shows, including; Scared of The Dark, Absolutely Dyer: Danny and Dani Do Italy, Henpocalypse!, Mr Bigstuff, The Great Celebrity Bake Off and most recently Celebrity Gogglebox.

But his latest venture has seen him take the music industry by storm as he features in a music video for English singer-songwriter Lucy Rose’s latest single ‘Sail Away’.

The new video, directed by London-based Dylan Friese-Greene, continues the creative partnership between Rose and Dyer, who previously starred in her video for 2016 single ‘Nebraska’.

‘Sail Away’ is the latest cut from Rose’s album ‘This Ain’t The Way You Go Out’, which was released earlier this year.

Yesterday (July 18) Lucy shared a short clip of the new video featuring Danny with her Instagram followers. The video, which has nearly 10,000 views, was captioned: “So honoured to have the one and only @dannydyerofficial star in the music video for ‘Sail Away’. It’s been 8 years since our first collaboration and I’m beyond chuffed that Danny wanted to do something for this track. Directed by the fantastic @dylanfriesegreene. Link in bio to watch in full.”

In the comments section there was a mix of opinions with some branding the career move ‘random’ and others calling it ‘brilliant’. One shocked fan wrote: “This is very unexpected but I am so here for it”, while another Instagram user commented: “Dyer is everywhere at the moment and it’s great!!” EastEnders star Bobby Brazier even chimed in writing: “Very cool”.

Over on YouTube Lucy’s fans were just as excited , commenting: “When she mentioned Danny would be in the music video, I did not expect him to be lip synching. I’m rolling.” Another wrote: “Got half way through the video before I realised it was Danny.”

Some fans spotted the link between the music video and his EastEnders exit, where he disappeared at sea after trying to save Janine Butcher and his estranged wife Linda Carter from drowning. One commented: “Mick survived – confirmed”, while another said: “Love this! Slightly ironic with how he left EastEnders.”
