Virgin River fans were pleased to learn the beloved romance drama has officially been renewed for season six.

This news was confirmed months before the season five release which is set to premiere later this year.

The Netflix announcement came in conjunction with its first-ever upfront presentation on Wednesday.

As Alexandra Breckenridge and Martin Henderson will reprise their roles as Mel Monroe and Jack Sheridan, fans took to social media to share their excitement.

The cast also shared their joy as Preacher’s Colin Lawrence was the first to react to the renewal on social media.

The actor took to Instagram with a video of himself as he shared the “exciting news.”

Addressing his 124k followers, Lawrence was walking through a car park as he confirmed: “’Hey y’all, just wanted to share with you some exciting news.

“Just got word that we have been picked up for a season six,” the 52-year-old proceeded to skip with delight as he gushed: “Doing my happy dance! Doing my happy dance!”

He continued: “Wanna thank y’all for so much love. Gonna bring some great stories your way. Oh, I’m excited! Season six, here we go!”

Virgin River fans will recall his character Preacher had a major storyline in the finale as he and Paige Lassiter (played by Lexa Doig) were finally safe.

After her brother-in-law, Vince (Steve Bacic) threatened her son’s life, Paige was willing to trade herself for son Christopher (Chase Petriw) but Preacher interrupted the deal and
