EastEnders legends to ‘return from dead for soap’s 40th anniversary’ as fans have ‘proof’

EastEnders fans are certain two legends are “coming back from the dead” as the soap gets ready to mark its huge anniversary next year.

Next year, the soap, which first went on air in 1985, will celebrate 40 years on the telly. And it’s fair to say the programme has delivered on THE drama over the years.

But now, viewers reckon that to celebrate the epic milestone next year, two soap icons will be brought back – despite being killed off.

And it wouldn’t be the first time EastEnders has had characters ‘return from the dead.’ Dirty Den Watts, Kathy Beale and Cindy Beale have all returned after previously being killed on the soap.

And according to fans, it’ll be legends Roxy (Rita Simons) and Ronnie Mitchell (Samantha Womack) who could make a comeback – and viewers say they even have “proof.”The blonde bombshells were tragically killed off in 2017 after 10 years on the soap. In one of the long-running soap’s most controversial episodes ever, the sisters met their untimely deaths by drowning together on Ronnie’s wedding day.

But fans think Rita, who has since joined Hollyoaks as Marie, and Samantha are now coming back for the soap’s 40th anniversary. Sharing their theory online, one fan wrote: “Reminder that they both spent three years in rival soaps before being brought back from the dead…

“Ronnie and Roxy are back for the 40th anniversary.. mark my words.” A second chimed in and also agreed: “I think they’ll come back. Billy helped them fake it.”

In April last year, Rita reprised her role as Roxy Mitchell in EastEnders despite the character being killed off in January 2017. Fast forward six years later and in a surprise twist, Roxy made an epic comeback on the BBC soap.

In emotional scenes, Roxy’s daughter Amy attended a counselling session, accompanied by dad Jack, worried she might turn to self-harm. The session soon turned on to the topic of Roxy, to which the counsellor asked Amy: “Imagine she’s here right now, what would you want to say to her?”

“Did you ever really love me?” Amy said, before the group leader asked: “And what would you think she would say to that?” Then suddenly, Roxy appeared and proclaimed: “Of course I love you I still do.”

She went on: “My baby, with all my heart,” as Amy watched on looking flustered. “Then where are you?” Amy asked. “I’m here,” Roxy replied, before reaching for the ‘Mum’ necklace Amy was wearing.
